WHAT DOES LIEN THINK OF MIKAGE HAVING MADE HER A CHIRSTMAS PRESENT

First she was ready to be offended by a courting gift! Then she did a doubletake and wondered why he gave her something, since he's obviously sexually immature as a dragon. Then she remembered about Christmas and was kind of touched! In that :| WELL IT WAS A FITTING SIGN OF RESPECT HOW APPROPRIATE way. She's going to use it as an opening to learn written and spoken Barsburg along with Raggsian.

OH YEAH QUESTION

How often does Temeraire try to spy on Lien to see if she's going to start a visible plot while just hanging around?

Temeraire actually doesn't try to spy on Lien very often, because he knows there's no subtle way to do it and so he'd much rather just avoid her. But if he happens to be in the same area as her, like around the library, then he'll totally eavesdrop, sure. He hates her and he distrusts her, but he DOES expect her to mostly keep to the treaty, if only because her pride will want to show off at keeping her word longer than the British. GRANBY IS THE PARANOID ONE.

What exactly has Lien been eating in camp? Does she hunt? DID YOU STEAL MY COOK?

GOOD FOR YOU, TEMERAIRE!

She doesn't hunt. I THINK WATANUKI DID INTEND TO COOK FOR HER, but I don't know whether he actually ended up doing so or not! If he doesn't, she just lands outside the mess hall and politely requests a meal from the cooks, preferably something with rice. |D

Does Burupya know about the DRAGONRIVALRY of the Temeraire cast?

Burupya does not! Mikage has some idea that they don't get along at least, because he never sees them together. Also that question has me imagining like. a custody battle over the babydragon.

I CAN'T THINK OF A QUESTION tell me a random headcanon fact

Lien has a quiet but really definite love of night-blooming flowers. There's a small corner of the Imperial gardens where she'd gotten the servants to cultivate a whole bunch of them in and among the other flowers, and before she got her companion she liked to go there at night when there was no sun to make her uncomfortable. After Yongxing formally became her companion, he had some planted in the courtyard connected to his apartments.

Are there ever moments in any of your canons where you have trouble with suspension of disbelief? Why?

I'm pretty good with suspension of disbelief in general, except for when it comes to drawn out action movie style stuff. Which leaves me pretty well set for my canons! The only issue I can think off the top my head (besides the HUGE suspension of disbelief needed to read Hetalia) is whenever the dragon transports come up in Temeraire. Those things must be the size of AIRCRAFT CARRIERS and yet they're wooden sailing ships. How does that work!!

Pimp me something to read.

Georgette Heyer's The Grand Sophy. She wrote regency romances - which I'm not usually a fan of - with such entertaining characters and quirky overdone period language that you had to love her stuff. I went AWWW when I found out Naomi Novik was a fan, too. The Grand Sophy is about an awesomely strong female character, and it's her best work imo.

Five ways Temeraire tries to make Laurence feel better when he notices he's blue!

Oooh I like the sound of it

And orz, Temeraire is not so good at being comforting. BUT HE TRIES.

- Offer him something shiny
- Be helpful with whatever Laurence's doing
- Get a runner to fetch alcohol, preferably with food
- Talk about it! aka be argumentative against whatever made Laurence down
- ...change the subject

If Lien had to be stuck for an hour with one of the British, WHO WOULD SHE CHOOSE

HMMMM I guess Perscitia! Her choices are Iskierka, Granby, and Perscitia, since Laurence and Temeraire aren't even on the list. Perscitia isn't as actively annoying, she's a liiiittle politer, and if their stilted conversation about math or whatever didn't work out, she could be offended into just shutting up for the rest of the hour, which would also suit Lien nicely.

Have you ever been tempted to app another dragon?

Reply

canhascow January 15 2010, 20:36:14 UTC
I am KIND OF tempted to app Volly, in a distant way of it will never actually happen. But he is adorable and dorky and I want to see him encounter Camp's robot cows. As far as dragons in general go, there was Avan from 'Tooth and Claw.' He's a nice young dragon who works for a city planning commission.

How many languages has Lien picked up in Camp?

She learned to listen past the filter pretty well while she took lessons with Teito, so she's learned Raggsian and picked up a lot of Barsburg, modified her Japanese to something much more modern, figured out the differences between American and British English, and can understand if not yet speak perfectly whatever they speak in One Piece.

What world besides his own would Temeraire like to go to after camp? What would happen if he did?

Temeraire has very little interest in going to most other worlds because they don't have dragons. He doesn't want to go on a trip just to be shot at or have to deal with stupid comments like in Camp all over again. If he were to go somewhere though, he would go to the Hetaliaverse. England & China like dragons, so he figures that he would be okay there. Temeraire would stick his nose into technology, grump about airplanes (DRAGONS ARE BETTER!!), go check for ferals in hidden wild areas, mistake a zoo for food pens, investigate modern plumbing and cannons, visit England, visit China, and generally be his inquistive puppy self. This... is assuming he somehow isn't noticed by people.
