SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR FUCKING CATS
We've had to euthanize three kittens in the past week, all of whom had injuries that, while severe, could have been fixed. All of them were "strays".
Yellow kitten: torn up by the fan belt of a pickup truck.
Siamese kitten: hit by a car, leg broken and flayed open to the bone. We could have amputated it, but the person who found the kitten could not afford the surgery, which would have been hundreds of dollars.
Gray kitten: fishing line wrapped around its front paw. Paw became gangrenous. This one was a baaaaby, maybe 7-8 weeks old. I couldn't get the smell of gangrene out of my nostrils the whole day. We could have amputated it, but same scenario as above, the person who found it could not afford to spend hundreds of dollars on surgery.
Fucking heartbreaking. It feels so, so wrong to euthanize a tiny fuzzy baby kitten.
