She hated sitting in hospital waiting rooms. There was nothing worse than having to wait for hours on end whilst being forced to drink coffee after coffee and watching other people come in with various injuries and problems of their own.
Rachael rolled her eyes when her brother finally appeared from the examination room with a brace on his arm and stitches in his forehead. She stood up and walked over to him. "Doc says I'm gonna live."
She slapped the back of his head lightly, "You're lucky you're gonna live."
Mark winced, "Sorry, sis."
"You will be. Next time you do something stupid like that again I'll be the one who breaks your neck." It was clear from her tone of voice that she was both irritated and upset.
"How was I supposed to know--" She interrupted with him another slap to the back of his head. "Ouch! You're gonna give me a concussion here."
"I'm trying to knock some sense into you." She argued, angrily, "You're here for one day. One day! Already you get yourself into trouble. Why can't you visit without causing me any trouble?"
Despite the situation, he smirked, "It's my charm."
Rachael rolled her eyes again, and turned on her heels; leading the way out of the hospital and to her car. As they walked, Mark commented, "Anyway, this is less of a visit and more of a permanent thing."
She stopped walking and turned back to him, "Excuse me?"
Mark held one arm out and shouted, "Surprise!"
"You better not be saying what I think you're saying..." She warned.
"No, it's like I said; staying over the week and then I'm outta your hair. I've got some places lined up... I got a job." He tried to get her to be happy about it.
Standing quietly, Rachael pondered this with one brow raised, "You've got one week. If you're not outta my apartment, I'll kick you back to California."
Mark gulped, knowing his sister didn't do joking, certainly not in situations like this. He quickly nodded and rushed to the car.
