I really love this shot. The airport is the Chisholm-Hibbing Municipal Airport, which is just outside the city of Hibbing way up in Minnesota's Arrowhead. Hibbing was located in a very rich area for iron ore mining, and in 1915 it was discovered that a vein of the high-quality ore went directly under the town of 20,000. Over the next fifty-three years the entire town, over 200 structures, was relocated two miles to the south at a cost of $16 million.
Notable people from Hibbing include Minnesota's own Grover Cleveland - Rudy Perpich, the 34th and 36th Governor of the state, vintner Robert Mondavi, Kevin McHale, the Boston Celtics star turned Timberwolves front office abomination, former single season home run champ Roger Maris, Gary Puckett of Gary Puckett & The Union Gap, and some folk singer dude named Bob Zimmerman. The city is also home to the world's largest open-pit iron mine.
