The Ugly American Finally Dies
GM is finally going to kill the road-going symbol of suburban neoconservatism that is the Hummer H2.
I've never driven an H2, but I spent four years behind the wheel of the military HMMWV (sold in demilitarized form as the H1). For all the things the HMMWV might have been at one time, it's now an obsolete warrior that can't punch its own weight, far worse than Rocky in Rocky III. Many people don't realize it, but the HMMWV was developed back in the 1970s by a company (American Motors) that went out of business over 20 years ago. All the H2 ever was was a distillation of that chiseled physique onto a the heavy GM truck platform.
Good riddance.
