On of my favorite new websites is Uni Watch, a blog written by Paul Lukas to supplement his regular column at ESPN. Before he was at ESPN, he wrote for The Village Voice until the sports section was discontinued in 2003, (archives here) and Slate.com (archives here).

Two days ago, Lukas posted about the University of Oregon's new uniforms, and his experience meeting with the Nike officials who helped with the design. Now, I was quite a fan of the old Oregon unis (this and this) because they were modern without being entirely obnoxious.

Not so with the newly-unveiled unis. Seriously, is that diamond plate? Ugh. At least the font for the numbers is kinda cool.

Anyway, all this is a round-about way of stating how continually inspiring and amazing the Interweb is to me. The idea never would have occurred to me back when I first started surfing the 'web in junior high that one day there would be a website devoted to "The Obsessive Study of Athletics Aesthetics" (and believe me, it gets obsessive, much to my nerdy Virgo delight), but I'm glad things have turned out that way.

Then again, back in junior high I was surfing for sneak peeks of ultra-Trekkie designed, poorly-conceived Star Trek spaceships. So what do I know?
