I believe so. A few days ago, a friend and I were investigating a rumor concerning a malevolent spirit. We found it.

No. The most communication I've gotten were a series of odd... croaking noises and hostile actions.

I'm not entirely sure. There's been precedence for ghosts; however, those ghosts only lasted a week and were of the past residents of this Mansion.

Maybe because ghosts are supposed to cause fear.

Most malevolent ghosts have some unfinished business. Is part of the investigation to seek it out once more, or draw it out to you instead?

Either one. Depending on what information I retrieve, I'll plan from there. There are advantages and disadvantages to both approaches.
