RP Log | Mother's Day

May 13, 2008 18:44

Connie Rubirosa: *Sunday, early evening, heads over to Alex's*
Connie Rubirosa: *knocks on the door--dressed like she went out earlier, in a cute spring-ish dress, holding a gift bag*
Alex Eames: *Alex is sitting with her feet up, after spending the afternoon with her family. Wearing one of David's shirts since the size is bigger* *answers the door and smiles* Hey.
Alex Eames: *and she's wearing a skirt- before you think ALL she's wearing is his shirt*

Connie Rubirosa: Hey. *grin* Happy Mother's Day.
Alex Eames: *a confused smile but it does click* Ohhh. *huge smile* Thank you. *steps aside to let her in*
Connie Rubirosa: *grins, goes in* How's it goin'?
Alex Eames: *smiles as she closes the door* It's alright. Just spending the day doing nothing. How about you?
Connie Rubirosa: Just got back from taking my mom out with my sisters.
Alex Eames: *sits down and gestures for her to do the same* Did you have fun?

Connie Rubirosa: It was nice. *sits down* Oh--here. *holds out the gift bag*
Alex Eames: *confused look, carefully takes the gift bag and looks at her* You got me a gift?
Connie Rubirosa: Yes. It is Mother's Day and you are a mother. *smirk*
Alex Eames: *gives her a smirk in return and then opens the bag*
Connie Rubirosa: *it's one of those books that you write in while you're pregnant and during the baby's first year*

Alex Eames: *a broad smile appears on her face as she pulls it out* *genuinely happy* Thank you. I was wondering whether or not I should do one of these.
Connie Rubirosa: Definitely should.

Alex Eames: Well, I definitely will. *grins*
Connie Rubirosa: *smiles*
Alex Eames: Thank you. I wasn't expecting anything at all. *is really happy, surprised in a good way*

Connie Rubirosa: I'm glad you liked it.
Alex Eames: *smiles* I love it.
Connie Rubirosa: Good.
Alex Eames: Do you want anything to drink?
Connie Rubirosa: Water would be great.

Alex Eames: *nods and goes to get two glasses of water and passes one to her*
Connie Rubirosa: *takes one* Thanks.
Connie Rubirosa: How's Baby Eames?
Connie Rubirosa: I'm going to start calling her AJ.
Connie Rubirosa: For Alex, Junior.

Alex Eames: *laughs, amused* AJ? *chuckles* That's interesting. I don't think that's the name we'll go with but it works for now. -AJ- is doing fine, she's being lazy today, too, so that works for me.

Connie Rubirosa: *laughs*
Alex Eames: *sips her water* And how is Connie?

Connie Rubirosa: Connie? *thinks*...I'm okay.

Alex Eames: I like how you had to think about it. *little smirk* Just okay?
Connie Rubirosa: This case is kind of annoying me....other than that...my weekend was lowkey and boring...as is my life, pretty much.
Alex Eames: Your life isn't that boring. How is this case annoying you?
Connie Rubirosa: Oh, you know, having to deal with Major Case. Yes, my life is that boring.
Alex Eames: Are they being pains? You need me to sort them out?
Connie Rubirosa: *smirk* Not yet.
Alex Eames: You just give the word.
Alex Eames: *smirks back*

Connie Rubirosa: *laughs* Oh, nice. I have you to handle Major Case, Cutter to handle the DA's office...I like this. It's nice having badass friends.
Alex Eames: *laughs* It does have it's benefits.
Connie Rubirosa: *grin*
Alex Eames: So, hopefully, it can be less annoying.
Connie Rubirosa: Yes, hopefully.
Alex Eames: *crosses her fingers*
Connie Rubirosa: *laughs*

Alex Eames: How come you're handling Major Case, anyway? Isn't that Casey's job?
Connie Rubirosa: I'm not--but if this is a cross-case...
Connie Rubirosa: I had enough of MCS with the McCabe trial, thanks.
Connie Rubirosa: No offense.

Alex Eames: *little chuckle* None taken. You do have to have a strong stomach to work with a certain couple of guys... and Wheeler. And the McCabe trial... was intense.

Connie Rubirosa: It was.

Alex Eames: *nods slowly* Yeah- not a case I like to remember too often.
Connie Rubirosa: *nods, bites her lip*
Alex Eames: But- at least it ended sucessfully... in the sense of, he got what was coming to him.
Connie Rubirosa: Right.
Alex Eames: *nods*
Alex Eames: *briefly remembering her friend*
Alex Eames: *sips her water*
Connie Rubirosa: *drinks hers as well*
Alex Eames: *shakes that off and goes to get her sonagram photos to put in the book so they don't get lost, finally*

Connie Rubirosa: *watches her go, looks around*
Alex Eames: *everything is all neat and tidy, you couldn't tell that somebody had moved in a few weeks or so ago* *comes back with the pictures and sits down*
Connie Rubirosa: Aw, sonogram pictures.
Alex Eames: *grins* *passes them to her so she can see*
Connie Rubirosa: *looks*

Alex Eames: *showing a fetus at 20 weeks, a girl*
Connie Rubirosa: Awww, there she is.
Alex Eames: *smiles, all proud* Yep. I'm starting to get really excited.
Connie Rubirosa: Good. You deserve to be.
Alex Eames: *raised brow, not quite sure what she means by deserve*
Connie Rubirosa: What?

Alex Eames: Deserve?
Connie Rubirosa: Oh...I mean...you should be happy.
Alex Eames: *smiles* Thanks. I think a huge reason why I'm looking forward to August is because I want to see David be happy about it, too. *little shrug*
Connie Rubirosa: *nods*
Alex Eames: *little smile*
Connie Rubirosa: *smiles back*

Alex Eames: Anyway, that's her.
Connie Rubirosa: You haven't taken it to work and pinned it anywhere?
Alex Eames: No.... why would I?

Connie Rubirosa: I don't know. *laughs*
Alex Eames: *laughs, amused* Well, I certainly don't know.
Connie Rubirosa: *laughs*
Alex Eames: It was on the fridge.
Connie Rubirosa: *nods*
Connie Rubirosa: How're things with your sister?

Alex Eames: A little better, actually. *smiles* I've just spent a few hours with them all this afternoon.
Connie Rubirosa: How'd that go?
Alex Eames: It was a BBQ- my dad almost burnt the back yard.
Alex Eames: *amused*
Connie Rubirosa: *laughs*

Alex Eames: He was never any good at that, and usually we avoid the risk but it was what mom wanted.
Connie Rubirosa: Nice.
Alex Eames: *smiles*
Alex Eames: It was.
Connie Rubirosa: Good.
Alex Eames: And what did you do for your mom?

Connie Rubirosa: My sisters and I took her out to lunch, and then we went and got pedicures.
Alex Eames: Sounds like a fun and relaxing day.
Connie Rubirosa: It was nice.
Alex Eames: *smiles* Good
Connie Rubirosa: *nods*
Alex Eames: *little grin, sips her water*
Connie Rubirosa: I saw Nina the other day and it actually wasn't weird.
Alex Eames: You were expecting it to be weird?
Connie Rubirosa: ...well...did I not tell you about what happened after me and Danny broke up?

Alex Eames: I don't know anything about Nina...
Connie Rubirosa: ....well, she's a good friend of his...and she'd started to become a good friend of mine....when we broke up and we were fighting, she told us she wasn't discussing any of it with either of us....
Connie Rubirosa: Which...I understand...it was just....

Alex Eames: Just you still wanted to be able to talk to her?
Connie Rubirosa: Yeah. I guess I felt a little....devalued? Like...if you were dating someone I was friends with....I'd want to be there for you if you broke up with them, and I'd want to be there for that person too.
Connie Rubirosa: I mean
Connie Rubirosa: hello, the whole thing with Brian and Christina--I managed to not ruin either of those friendships.

Alex Eames: I can understand that. You can still be there for someone without getting involved.
Connie Rubirosa: I mean--you were there after I broke up with Bobby...you know?
Alex Eames: *nods* Yes, yes, I was. And he's still my best friend and partner.

Connie Rubirosa: And we're still friends.
Alex Eames: Without a doubt.
Connie Rubirosa: *smirk*
Alex Eames: *smirks back* People do things differently, I guess.
Connie Rubirosa: I guess so.
Connie Rubirosa: I mean, she's still my friend...but...not as good as I guess I thought...*chews her lip in thought about that*
Alex Eames: *sad smile* Perhaps not but she's still your friend in some way. Maybe the two of you should talk about it.
Connie Rubirosa: *shrugs*
Alex Eames: Or just leave it the way it is.
Connie Rubirosa: *shrugs again*
Alex Eames: *little smile*

Connie Rubirosa: Where's David?
Alex Eames: Working. Have I mentioned lately that I don't like IAB?
Connie Rubirosa: I'm sure you don't. Who really DOES?
Alex Eames: Good point. *smirks* But I really hate them right now.
Connie Rubirosa: *nods, has a thought but keeps it to herself*

Alex Eames: *little smile*

Connie Rubirosa: *smirk*

Alex Eames: *sips her water and just smirks back*
Connie Rubirosa: Anything else of interest going on in your life? New cravings? Bigger waist size?
Alex Eames: *smirks* I'm not discussing my waist size- it goes without saying that my weight has increased. As for cravings, I keep wanting to eat ice chips and chicken.

Connie Rubirosa: *laughs* Ice?
Alex Eames: Yes. I know--weird huh?
Connie Rubirosa: Yeah. At least flavor it or something.
Alex Eames: No, it has to be water. I don't seem to like the flavoured ones. *pulls a yucky face*
Connie Rubirosa: *laughs*
Alex Eames: *chuckles*

Connie Rubirosa: I mean despite the weight gain and whatever else--are you...enjoying parts of it?
Alex Eames: Yeah, sure, I like feeling her move around, and she does that a lot.
Connie Rubirosa: *grin*
Alex Eames: *smiles* That's the best part.

Connie Rubirosa: That's good.
Alex Eames: Yes *little nod*
Connie Rubirosa: *thinkylook, looking at her water glass*
Alex Eames: *curious look at her*
Connie Rubirosa: *doesn't notice*

Alex Eames: You okay?
Connie Rubirosa: Hm? Oh, yeah.
Alex Eames: *raised brow* You sure?
Connie Rubirosa: *nods* Just thinking.
Alex Eames: What about?
Connie Rubirosa: Kids.
Alex Eames: What about kids?
Connie Rubirosa: *shrugs* Wanting them...

Alex Eames: You--You want a baby?
Connie Rubirosa: Or two.
Alex Eames: Ambitious. Is this a sudden thought?
Connie Rubirosa: No, not really.
Alex Eames: I'm sure it'll happen one day, Connie.
Connie Rubirosa: I'm impatient.
Alex Eames: *quiet chuckle* I don't think you get a choice. Actually, I know you don't.

Connie Rubirosa: Well...if you're settled down with the man you want to have kids with, and you plan it, you do.
Connie Rubirosa: That's the part that's been eluding me.

Alex Eames: Well--yeah, but I meant you don't have a choice, you have to be patient.
Connie Rubirosa: *makes a face*

Alex Eames: *gives her this look that says 'don't pull that face with me, you know I'm right', shakes her head* You'll find one of those men... one day, and if not, you'll accidentally find yourself pregnant...
Connie Rubirosa: ...no.
Connie Rubirosa: ...I mean..no offense...it's just...I sort of have a plan about how I want it to be.

Alex Eames: Yeah, I had a plan, too. Things don't always follow them.
Connie Rubirosa: Yes, but I'm more....control-freak than you.
Alex Eames: I'm not gonna argue with that--*smirks* But, there are some things you can't control.
Connie Rubirosa: Like David's sperm?
Alex Eames: Yeah, like that! They must've had tools or something. *shakes her head*
Connie Rubirosa: *laughs*
Alex Eames: I had absolutely no control over that, at all.
Connie Rubirosa: god....I almost let myself think...that I could do that with Danny. Have kids, have....a family...I did let myself think it...

Alex Eames: Is that why you were with him? Because you wanted a family?
Connie Rubirosa: *looks down* I think that was part of it.
Alex Eames: You'll get that eventually. Just don't force yourself to be with someone for that, you won't be happy. You'd just be miserable, and I doubt that that's a part of your plan.
Connie Rubirosa: I know...I sort of realized that...
Alex Eames: *nods* It's not like you're old, is it? You've still got plenty of time.
Connie Rubirosa: I suppose so.

Alex Eames: I know so.
Alex Eames: *serious nod*
Connie Rubirosa: *sighs*
Alex Eames: *supportive smile*
Connie Rubirosa: *smils back*
Alex Eames: Try not to let it get to you, really. Aunt Connie can babysit this one if she wants to.
