As pwomised, my, uh, trying-not-to-gush comments about Casino Royale...

OHMYGODDANIELCRAIGISAWESOME!

I know casting him fulfilled the "grittier" Bond the movie needed, but wow, Daniel could do brutal action scenes, moving drama and even yuck-you're-such-an-arrogrant-pr*ck! Poor guy, though--he kept getting beat up (one such moment had Mark wincing in sympathy). I even liked the black-and-whites and the whole scene in the bathroom with the salt water.

This Bond is still sure of himself, though very rough around the edges. Confident, yet comical when he makes mistakes. Smooth and suave, but when he fires off those wicked one-liners, totally comical.

At a certain point I told Mark, "Bond film to na naging action na naging drama na naging thriller..."

I also particularly liked how good his enemies were, even the supposed "thugs" of the movie. It makes Bond's survival all the more acute and enjoyable. Even the Bond babes were intelligent babes (wearing nice fashion). Totoo, the pathos (DING) dings, este, rings true--I end up caring about the characters, even the bad guys, simply because not everything is black and white.

And I really wanna download the script. All those fantastic one-liners! :)

"Sorry?"

"Did you bring any chocolates?"

"Not this time, no." (Laughs)

Even this innocous bit of dialogue is a cracker!

Also, I agree with everything you said. The pathos (dinging like there's no tommorow), the fighting to actually survive, the vulnerability AND the unwavering confidence and the sheer enjoyability of it all adds up to actually one of the best movies of 2006. Better than The Departed! Hahaha!

"Does it look like we need the money?"

Also nice: The T-shirts
