I never even posted about this long-ass mission we had a week and a half ago. We drove a long way, down into what's known as the Sammrah Jungle. It's an area where the Tigris River used to flow many years ago, but the river cut a new, shorter course. I didn't get to see much of it myself, b/c I was in the back of an APC. Well, anyway, the Sammrah Jungle was supposed to be this badass stomping grounds for terrorists, but when we went through, there were a TON of CLC (Concerned Local Citizens) checkpoints put in by a different unit. The area was actually safe and fairly nice (for Iraq). There was also an IA (Iraqi Army) compound! So, still no action, which is actually a good thing, although sometimes I itch for it. The wiser side of me knows to be careful what I wish for, though. It was at least a good day to catch up on sleep a bit, since I was in the back of an APC.
I got in a fairly decent leg workout today, but only a mediocre upper-body workout. I just wasn't feeling it at that point and normally would have stopped, but I'm trying to conquer my old "go hard or go home" attitude. A short, nominal workout is better than none at all, and I was frequently falling into not workout out at all b/c there wasn't enough time to do what I considered a good enough session.
There is no more recent news on my OCS packet yet.
Ummm... that's all for now!
