Pretty soon, I will no longer be RTO!

It seemed bad at the time, because it was told to me immediately following a mistake I had made. However, since then, my leadership has been nothing but completely cool with me. I think they realized that I was burned out on radio stuff and needed to move into something else. I also think they were planning on moving my replacement in there pretty soon anyway, because back in November I was informed that in March I would become the battalion commander's driver. He wants to mentor me in the ways of an officer. I think it would be an awesome job to have, and I hope it still happens. A lot depends on the amount of new personnel we get in the next couple of months. It may not happen as soon as they said, but I hope it still happens. There is a lot I can learn from him.

In case you're wondering what my mistake was, I forgot to change the COMSEC (COMmunications SECurity) on the radios one morning before a patrol left. It was Thursday, the day of COMSEC changeover, but I woke up that morning thinking it was Wednesday and that I still had another day. It was an honest mistake, but a pretty dumb one.

In sadder news, one of my good friends found out a few days ago that his mom committed suicide. He is home on leave right now. This has been the worst couple of months of his life, because only a little before this, he found out his wife had found someone else. I've been praying for him, and I hope things turn out better for him.

This is all for now; I want to try to keep these a little shorter, especially if it's about more than 1 thing.
