"Really, I'm fine," Stephens waved off the second nurse who was preventing him from exiting the small hospital room where they'd seen to the gash on his neck that the Joker had left. A few stitches later, he was as good as new - at least he thought.
"Are you sure you don't want anything for the pain right now?" the nurse asked again.
"Positive," he grunted. He'd fill the prescription they'd given him on his way home. Right now he just wanted to get home. It had been a hell of a night so far and he didn't want to spend the last part of it in the damn hospital.
The rest of the team was on the hunt for the Joker, or making sure the City didn't fall into further chaos (if that was even possible), but Gordon had ordered him to take the rest of the night and the next day off. He didn't like it, but he wasn't one to question orders.
After another exchange with the nurse, the detective finally made his way out of the room and down the corridor that led to the emergency room waiting area where he'd originally been brought in.
