Megan stepped off of the elevator carrying a box in her arms. She glanced around as she pushed her way between the other people on the floor of the Major Case Squad room. There had been a fast b-beat-beat-beat going in her heart as she stopped at her old squad and packed her things and said her goodbyes. It continued now. She made her way to the desk that Ed Green had previously pointed out for her to claim, near his and Logan's, and set her box down. Despite being up too late and getting up too early, she was wide awake.
Danny Ross had called her just the night before to tell her that everything had cleared and she could move in that morning. She didn't hesitate at all in getting up early to go to her old squad to pack and leave.
Now standing in MCS, she wanted to introduce herself to the people now staring at her, but she had to make herself comfortable first. If for any reason but to make her hands stop shaking. She pulled her nameplate from her box and looked at it. It was slightly beaten and worn, but she loved it. Det. Megan Wheeler. It was the same nameplate she'd had since becoming Detective; she couldn't replace it. She placed it on her new desk, then pulled out a silver picture frame that held a picture of Pup. For a moment her mind went to a picture that once resided in that frame. A picture of Kevin with Pup...but she pushed that away and set the picture on her desk.
Leaving the box alone, she unbuttoned her jacket and took a seat in her chair. She let her fingers run over her computer monitor and the edges of her desk. She looked around, avoiding eye contact with anyone. On the outside, she knew she looked serious and calm. On the inside she was bursting with energy, excitement, fear, and happiness. She'd been through many different squad rooms in her years, but she hoped this one would stick. Detective Megan Wheeler, Major Case Squad. It was real.
