Mommy
My mother is an amazing woman. She's always been there for me and encouraged me. I know when I was younger I nearly gave her heart attack after heart attack with my bad behavior. Gangs. Guns. Drugs. Women after women. I was reckless. At the time I didn't care. Didn't care if I hurt anyone, or if I got hurt. Though things change. I got shot and I saw my mother's face when I was laying there. So worried, her mascara running from crying over her son.
In that moment I knew I had to make a change. I'd seen my friends die. That day I lost my best friend. The guy that was like a brother to me more then my own was. I knew she was hurt over his loss too. I knew I couldn't put my mom through that anymore.
I decided then to make a change. I stopped acting like a fool. I made goals in my life. Now here I am today. A detective in homicide. Making my mother proud. Now at least when I get shot it's trying to help others and not harm them.
