Two things...

1) Massive, and I mean MASSIVE, update to 1001 Insomniac Nights. I've been lapse for about seven weeks now but am all caught up. If you're not reading it, you should be. C'mon - the current chapter is called "The Grapes of Passive Aggression." How could you not want to read it? ( Read more... )

Okay, what about splitting Crimson Mask and making it a duology? ::staring innocently at the ceiling and whistling::

I've thought about this, and I think it would even work as a trilogy. (I know where I can segment the story and this would allow me to spend some time developing some of the other characters.) My concern is whether or not agents will publish a not stand alone first book to a series.

::nods:: Hmmmm. Two options. One is to find an agent who will pimp a trilogy. Second is to pimp the first novel. When they see how successful it is, you go "voila!" and pimp the second novel and mention that gee whiz, you just so happen to be fooling around with a third when you're not working on other things... which is how the second one came to be. Then you stare at the ceiling and whistle tunelessly.

ORR... if you really need a standalone, rewrite the story around your twist ending. Then make whatever's left into sequels.

THAT's the other option. I'm ready to take a shot at the first cycle, though I've come attached to introducing everyone to the world before I spend a series explaining what happened.
