Courtesy of suricattus -While this is admittedly from 2003, it was just brought to my attention. If you like Terry Goodkind, you should probably skip this post. However, you should definitely read this.

It's a USA Today interview with Terry "I suck" Goodkind. No, really, that's his middle name. In it he talks about, among other things, how he doesn't write fantasy, how fantasy is a plotless genre only about magic systems and world-building, and how he definitely did NOT rip-off all his big concepts from Robert Jordan. The irony being, that the very things he complains about fantasy being (plotless, one dimensional, all about the magic) are the exact reason I think he's a hack.

I've hated "I suck" Goodkind from the very moment I finished Wizard's First Rule, closed the book, and shook my head in disbelief at how idiotic the ending is. So to hear this guy proclaiming that he's so superior to other fantasy authors is just laughable. Really, "I suck" Goodkind, really?

I'm trying to resist the urge to send him hate mail telling him how much I hate his guts and how, after reading his novel, I thought, "Wow, I could right better than this in my sleep," and that that was one of the major moments of inspiration to persue "novelist" as a career choice.
