Getting an update in.
It's been a rough couple of days and realized I should probably post something.
I've currently received rejections on 7 of 9 queries I have out currently. What's left me a little stunned is that no one seems to want to see anything past the prologue. I'm a little surprised because honestly, I've gotten fantastic feed-back on the prologue from my beta readers. It's a strong start, a very strong start, and the fact that no-one has even asked to see more has left me fairly shaky. I've also only had one agent bite on the query letter itself, so I think I'm definitely going to have to rethink it. Maybe emphasize that while revenge is Ryjel's motivation, that's not what the story is about.
Anyway, so left a little shell-shocked, I hit a turbulent kind of brain-storm, trying to figure out what I could write next that might make an agent's eyes light up with interest at the concept. Quite literally, I did a little work on 5 different things last night, but none of them more than a few paragraphs long.
I think I've got something, but it might need to simmer a little before I have it. It's related to CM, so it could serve as a jumping off point for eventually getting Crimson Mask published. But until then, I think I'm stuck where I am.
