So, here's what I'm looking for. I want to work from home, on the Internet, either actually on the Internet or via email, I want to be able to do said work from anywhere so that when Steven pulls his head out of his ass and admits that he wants me in Austin instead of pulling this do whatever you want I can't make your decisions for you bullshit (I don't want you to make the decision, I've made the decision, I want you to support me and help me make the decision a reality....grrrr) I can move to Austin and know that I have an income. But, working from home is not my only requirement. I don't want to peddle crap that no one wants or needs...if I wanted to do that (or was any good at it) I would work at the Gap (okay so I wouldn't work at the Gap even if I could make a living working on commission but you get the point). I don't want to buy anything that isn't going to help my business efforts (i.e. I will buy filing cabinets. I will buy a printer. I will buy a buisnessy type phone. I will not buy products so that I can try them out for myself. I will not buy literature about the business. If you want people to be part of your business so badly you will give them literature for free.) I don't want to be part of an MLM company where I have to convince other people that they too can peddle this garbage to their unsuspecting friends and family (p.s. I apologize to all of those I have peddled crap to in the past). I want to do something related to the $30,000 I spent on a college education, but I don't want to feel like I am selling myself out to make a few measely dollars (granted the still-on-the-back-burner idea of being a wedding consultant doesn't really have anything to do with English and Professional Writing but it sounds cool so it wouldn't be selling out....). I am writing content for websites about anything I am interested in and while it is not by any stretch of the imagination going to be what one might call lucrative, it is fun and I can set my own hours and wages, so to speak. I don't want to write for a newspaper; I feel like the rules of the AP writing style are far too stifling and by the time I say it in the AP way I haven't really said what I started out to say. Not to mention writing for any American media at this point in time is selling out to big corporations because along with the AP rules, the American journalist also has to be aware of what General Electric has on their political agenda (GE owns NBC, MSNBC, CNBC....yadda yadda and so on...and GE is one of the largest weapons distributors in the country...hmmmm pro-war?). And I'll be honest, part of the reason I want to work from home is that I don't want to have to get up at the ass-crack of dawn, get all dressed up all fancy and go to a job where I sit in front of a computer in an uncomfortable chair and do something I could do just as easily from my couch in my comfy clothes. The biggest problem I am seeing here is that when I google "work from home" I get 800 MLM-peddle-the-garbage-we-ourselves-can't-unload jobs. I am not asking to get rich. I want $1200-1500 a month to do something I enjoy, or can at least respect myself for doing. So I sit here at my journal that maybe five people read and complain because I can't find anywhere real to complain. And to those five people who might be reading this...I'm sorry that my thoughts seem a little jumbled. It's a journal, get over it...no really, I'm just typing as things come to me.

Let's recap: I want to work from home so that when I get ready to move, my job (and thusly my income) will move with me and I don't have to struggle to find a job in a new and unfamiliar city. I don't want to peddle crap or convince other people to peddle crap. I want to make $1200-1500 a month (more would be great but I'm not greedy, $1200 will pay the bills and keep me fed...not necessarily entertained but fed). I want to do something that is in some way related to my college education, after all $30,000 is not chump change, I should get my money's worth (or my parents' money's worth...as it were). I don't think that working for someone else should require a monetary investment on my part (going into business for myself sure but let's face it...all those "fire your boss, work for yourself" scams don't really mean it...you are really working for a company or even worse a "sponsor" or "team leader" who doesn't lead and is only interested in you for the money you can make for them...sounds like a boss to me). I want to enjoy whatever it is I do. It doesn't have to be a lark but it should be slightly more enjoyable than serving crappy food to idiots with crappy attitudes (I hate people who eat in restaurants). And, once again, I should be able to do it from my couch. I don't think I'm asking all that much. But the job market seems to disagree with me. So, that's my thought for the day.
