SIGTAG TUTORIAL 2

Jul 05, 2018 12:15

Here's another tutorial for land of art. Please read carefully and if you have any doubt feel free to ask :)

For this one I used these two stills from Buffy.

I masked the background on the second picture just like I did in the first tutorial here so I'm gonna skip that.

1. BASE
I filled the background with a purple color (AC9DD5), resized and set the first picture to luminosity 35%.
Then added the cut-out of the second picture.

2. GRADIENTS + LIGHT
This was tricky, cause I wanted that picture with color but I couldn't do anything right with it so I ultimately set it to b/w.

a) Orange and Pink gradient map. Hold control and click on the layer tab to select only the cut-out where I'm using the gradient.
I made a gradient map with these colors: F9EEDF / F9AEFE and set it to multiply 49%

b) Black & White gradient map. Same as above, hold control and click on the layer tab to select only the cut-out  and create a b/w gradient.

c) Gradient fill layer color to transparent. Color: BDA1D6 / Angle: 33,69º. Set it to Screen 100%.

d) Gradient fill layer duplicate. Color: BDA1D6 / Angle: 177,61º, drag the gradient in the window from the center to the right to take a bit of brightness. Screen 100%.

3. TEXT
I added a few text layers. For the shadows I usually duplicate the layer and put it behind and change the color. For the rotation hit ctrl+t and use the arrows.

Fonts: Caviar Dreams & Master of Break

4. FINAL TOUCHES
The edges look a bit sharp so I added a new layer on top and merge all the layers together.
Then I used Topaz Clean* with the following settings:

Clean: 0 - 0.79 - 15
Edges: 1 - 1.50 - 0.70
Texture: 0 - 0.78 - 1.15

*Here you can download the topaz settings, I use this combination very often, let me know if the file works.

And finally duplicate the topaz layer and set it to soft light.
