Comic book day is apparantly still Wednesday... (also, yukata.)

I got my comics in the mail yesterday, finally... It's torture to have to wait three weeks to get stuff from Things From Another World but at least they come, and in decent condition, despite them being shoved into my box. Let's hear it for D always taking her new comics with a bag and board. :P If I wanted to be nitpicky I could complain about them losing their mint status cuz of the little creases around the staples but really... I am just glad to not have to go down to the PO to pick up the package. ==

ANNNNYYYWAY. Shut up, D.
Usagi Yojimbo #110, 111 & 112.

#110 is a fun little kitsune story, involving Japanese folklore and Gen learning yet another lesson the hard way. I enjoyed the two Usagis, both of whom were like "Usagi with a dark side". Actually, it seems like Usagi himself is a little rougher and/or more outspoken these days.. not that this is bad, but just interesting, whether it's intentional or not.
As for Sanshobo and Inukai, both of whom I enjoy, I can only wonder where they went after the end of the Inuzuma-as-Jei's-roost business... presumably back to their usual haunts.

So after the small story break, we're into 111 & 112, the two-part introduction to "The Whip". I have to say that I LOVE SAKURA, but it makes me feel guilty because she's a bit similar to Inazuma. She has something kind of sketchy going on, but she has a good heart. She's no-nonsense. She has a tragic feel about her.

Of course I want to know more about her, but I have been trying to work things out for myself after Gen's confession at the end of 112. I am starting to wonder if, because of the "She's looking for her brother, but has no brother" thing, if she isn't.... a cross-dresser. Oo; Perhaps? There are a few hints here and there. I also wonder about the scar she has on the back of her (highly-tattooed) arm. I guess we will have to wait until she comes back again to find out what's going on. But HAHAHAHAHA, I am going to feel like a total idiot if I am wrong about the cross-dressing thing. ^^;

Of course I am also wondering about the next Jei storyline, far off in the future. I just hope it doesn't involve Sasuke the Demon-Queller, whom I invite to stay far, far away from my favorite bad guy. -_-

So it's gonna be a while until I order another round of Usagi. In the meantime, I am doing a little sketching for the first time in a while, and some of it while proctoring exams for my kids (not always a good idea, because the students sitting near me tend to have their eyes on my paper and not on their own >_<). I did some of the wolf people I do for class activities, some of my Ayo-chan, and then did some Hama-as-Jei, enjoying myself with the fact that, SURELY, he will be growing out the monk haircut. ^^;

In the realm of Not-Comic-Books, I am really dying for a new yukata set, with all the accessories (I couldn't be in a better place for yukata :B). It's tricky finding my size in a color/pattern I love, but maybe I can look in Kobe. I want something in a deep blue or dark red or black, with a sedate but cute print, and there are really beautiful obis in contrasting colors that would be wonderful to have. I have a white silk obi to go with a green yukata I have now, but I am afraid of getting it dirty. --; You see, I do not wear dark colors because I am gothy or whatever... but because I like stuff that doesn't look dirty easily. -_- The secret is out.
My town is having a big festival in August (between my jaunts to Hokkaido and New York), and it's something people wear yukata for, so it's my mission to find something awesome very soon.

...Annnnd this concludes this relatively sane entry.
