Usagi Yojimbo #107
Wahaha, got my issue at Midtown on my way to Grand Central and ATE it on the train.
Let me just say that I enjoy Inukai. I love him and Gen bickering. They're a great couple. XD
It's kind of neat to see Inu using his dog traits; I don't recall seeing a LOT of characters using their "animal" abilities in storylines, beyond Usagi's ears, and the like of the Komori Ninja flying, Mole Ninjas digging, etc. Inukai's sense of smell leads me to another theory, later on.
Poor Senzo. How is he to know that Jei-dust is just little Jei particles still at their original strength (if a little less ambulatory than before)? I'm sure he makes a terrific exfoliant, though. Better than crushed azuki beans.
I'm leaning more towards thinking we'll see Senzo (and Inazuma?) try to be exorcised by Hama, and perhaps Hama will take the full onslaught of Jei's soul when/if it comes loose. I kind of want Hama to become the new host to the Jei-particles, cuz then we'd have awesome yari action again (Ack, I need to re-read things before I post. It was Kin that Jei--as Jizonobu--duels; Hama is a new guy who shows up later. Dangit. I miss the yariness). Hama has the same kind of pointy Batman ears, too. =D
Meanwhile, I get the feeling from the panels with Usagi, Gen and Inu inside the peasant hut that we're meant to notice that overhead storage nook (although this may just me being crazy). I wonder if Keiko might be hiding in there.. but if she is, wouldn't Inu smell her there? If she is, and he does, he might be keeping it to himself. He already has a history of being big on kids, so maybe he has something in mind. ^^;
As for why Keiko's actually hiding from JeInazuma, I have two theories: She's going to go find a "better" host for Jei (Inazuma may be too strong to keep a hold on her forever), or she's just got some kind of ulterior motive that we don't know about yet. The kid is creepy. She creeps me out more than Jei. ^^;
And Mysterious Samurai Guy... for all I know he's Inazuma's long-lost brother-in-law who wants to clear her name. ^^; I really have no idea there.
And now I am sad, because I will be in Japan when the next issues come out. ;_; I WANNA KNOW WHAT HAPPENS. I have to see if I can get Things From Another World to send them to me, but they'll still probably arrive after stuff is on the shelves elsewhere. If only I wasn't so impatient. ^^;
