Character Name: Allen Walker
Canon: D.Gray-man
Point taken from canon: chapter 205
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Appearance: Allen is 170cm (about 5'7") tall, and weighs only about 55kg (121 lbs). He's always been slim, probably due to the rate he burns energy at. His hair is silver, though when he was little, it was reddish in color. (It went white when the Akuma Mana cursed him.) He has grey eyes, and a scar over his left eye in the shape of an inverted pentacle.
He was born with a "deformed" left arm; it was red and almost scaly in appearance. It has since changed its appearance, due to the fact that his left arm is a type of anti-Akuma weapon known as Innocence, but it's still not "normal" in appearance. It does still appear red and scaly, it's just…slightly different now than it was before.
Background:
here Personality: Allen is generally very friendly, very nice. He's polite to people right off, though he can develop an attitude if they push him. He makes friends easily as a general rule, and has a smile available for almost everyone. Even when he gets a little annoyed, he will say things like "please don't do that," etc. He generally believes in the good in people, and will treat them kindly, even when he has no reason to. When he meets Miranda in the rewinding town, he asks her very nicely for her help in their mission, even though no one had ever been nice to her before. (In more recent times, Allen is still polite by nature, but has stopped speaking as politely as he once did. He had picked up the habit of super polite speech from Mana Walker, and after the revelation that Allen carries the Fourteenth Noah's memories, he stopped doing that as often.)
Allen made a promise when he was young to always keep going and never give up, and he lives based on that. He never backs down from a challenge, even if it's a hopeless one. He can be idealistic to the point of being naive; he believes in saving the world. He wants to save both human beings and Akuma, even though it's very likely that this is not a possibility. He has a stubborn streak, though it's not so much a desire to be right as a desire to succeed in his attempts.
He's very loyal to his friends, and to the Exorcists in general. He'll go out of his way and then some to save people he cares about, even if it causes him to get seriously injured. He'll often do the same for people he doesn't even know, risking his own safety to protect the safety of others. He holds all life to be valuable, and that's what he fights for. For instance, Allen said over and over again that he refused to let Suman Dark die, and tried to get Suman to stop destroying things once his Innocence had turned against him and gone out of control. Even after Suman attacked Allen and showed no care for the lives of others, Allen still kept saying he'd save him, and kept trying to convince him to stop his rampage. Allen is willing to try and cut off Suman's arm to keep him alive, feeling that allowing him to live at all is the best choice. After Allen rescues Suman's body, but not his spirit, he feels both devastated and useless; nothing is worse for him than not being able to save Suman, despite the man's betrayal of the church and his comrades.
In the same vein, Allen would never kill a human being. Releasing the spirit inside an Akuma sets it free; it's not killing. Allen absolutely refuses to kill either humans or Akuma. He'd rather save an Akuma from death in order to be able to release the soul within it than let it die. While in the rewinding town, he risks his life to destroy an Akuma's body before it self-destructs so that its soul will be saved. When he isn't able to save it, he cries over its soul, even though that kind of behavior isn't really appropriate for Exorcists. He isn't able to kill Rhode for making the Akuma explode, because he can't make himself kill another human. Even being that angry isn't enough; he just cannot stand the thought of taking a life.
Allen manages to be optimistic almost all the time. He can't let himself believe in giving up, or in defeat. In his mind, there is no such thing as a futile struggle, and there have been few times that he's even considered that he'll really lose. He also wants to believe in the good in people. When he first meets Rhode Camelot, he can't believe that a human being would want to fight against other human beings, even after he's sure that she is human. He just cannot understand that mindset. (Also, both Lavi and Cross told Allen that Exorcists had to be suspicious of everyone, because they might be an Akuma. Allen doesn't share that outlook, partially because he can see the difference between Akuma and humans, and partially because he can't stand to think of all humans as potential enemies. The Noah family is bad enough in his eyes; he can't just suspect every single human.)
Allen can be pushed into losing his temper. Kanda manages this with hardly any effort (often by referring to Allen as "bean sprout," which is a name Allen cannot stand), and Cross can get a rise out of him easily, but other people have a harder time. Allen doesn't have any love for the Noah, but he's been known to be polite to them at first. Eventually, he can be pushed into having an attitude or mouthing off, but this generally only happens in serious situations; Allen doesn't just go around mouthing off for no reason (except possibly to Cross).
Allen does have another side to him, a "darker" side, almost. This side of him is ruthless, cocky, and even somewhat deceptive. He only really shows this side of himself when he's playing poker for any kind of stakes; this is something he learned when he was living with Cross Marian. He knows his own ability in poker and is sure that he will not lose. He's right; he wins the game with ease. This side of him is so drastically different from how he normally is, that it comes as a shock to anyone who sees it. (Again, it isn't really a common occurrence.)
While it's true that Allen generally respects authority (unless he's hellbent on trying to save someone; he'll ignore orders to save someone), he doesn't hold General Cross in very high regard. It's true that he refers to Cross as "Master," but that title doesn't bear the weight you might think. He doesn't hate Cross, but he considers the womanizing General to be irresponsible and something of a burden to have as his master. When he found out that he'd have to be responsible for guarding Cross after the murder of General Yeagar, he wasn't very happy about it. Allen does hold some affection for Cross, though, and when he's looking for him in China, he says out loud that if Cross is dead, he will hate him for it. When the report comes of Cross's death, Allen refuses to believe that the General has died, and demands to know where his ship was headed so that they can follow him. He has no faith in Cross changing his ways, but he does know that the General is a hard man to kill. Later, after Cross's alleged death at the Order, Allen thinks of him often, and is unconvinced that he is dead.
Allen has a resolve to create his own path, his own future. This probably ties in with the promise that he made that he'd keep going no matter what. He doesn't believe that his path is set in stone, and he has no plans to turn traitor against his fellow Exorcists. He also has no plans to fail in saving anyone and everyone. He's a pretty strong person.
[I should mention! Allen contains the "memories of the fourteenth Noah" which basically means that he is half-possessed by said Noah. At the point in canon I'm taking him from, a serious injury or traumatic event could cause him to turn into Nea Walker - the fourteenth Noah. A lot of Nea's personality has not been explained or gone into yet in the canon, SO I do not plan on triggering this easily until the canon gives us more info. But Allen has come face to face, in his mind, with Nea. He's aware of Nea's existence, but Allen himself admits that he knows nothing about the Fourteenth and his motives.]
Abilities/Strengths: Allen refuses to give up. He made a promise to Mana to keep walking, and he intends to keep doing that, no matter what. Even coming near death hasn't stopped him, nor has being basically kicked out of the Order, or being told he'll eventually become nothing but a Noah.
Allen is really handy in a fight against Akuma or monsters, and he can also fight people if he needs to. He can think on his feet in that sort of situation.
He's also a very friendly person, and tends to look on the bright side and be upbeat and polite most of the time.
Weaknesses: Allen has the ability to get lost very easily. It's not so much a personality flaw, but it is a weakness, in a way.
Allen's idea that he can save everyone can also put people in danger. He refuses to ever want to sacrifice anyone, even in a situation where it might be necessary. Because of this, he doesn't really pick sides very well, and insists that everyone can be saved and live on. This is actually both a weakness AND a strength.
Allen doesn't want to kill other human beings, ever. He doesn't even really want to fight against human beings, and is loathe to engage other people in battle. Akuma are one thing; people are something else. He wants to save the souls of the Akuma, and that involves fighting. People…he wants to save them too, and that would involve NOT fighting.
Allen does have a temper and his buttons can be pushed. He feels very strongly about things, and will stubbornly stand by his viewpoints.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: Allen's Innocence (his left arm; a weapon used to fight Akuma) can be used in several ways. The name of the Innocence weapon is "Crown Clown," according to the Black Order, because of how it looks when it is invoked.
When invoked, the Innocence expands, forming a white hooded cape that covers his right arm and his shoulders. His left arm becomes armored, and also sports long, very sharp claws. The cape also has a domino-style mask attached. The Innocence is actually somewhat sentient, and is capable of acting on its own when Allen is incapacitated, at least to some degree. Allen has escaped death this way before.
If the synchronization rate breaks 100%, his left arm becomes a giant sword. The sword can be used to exorcise evil from a target, if that is Allen's wish. In the case of a Noah, it's supposed to exorcise the Noah and leave the human in tact. (With Tyki Mikk, however, it seemed to have the opposite effect, and awakened the Noah part of him fully instead of destroying it. It hasn't been shown exorcising any other Noah, and this power actually hurt Allen himself, presumably because he is technically a Noah as well.) This sword only works on the Noah, or on Akuma, however. It won't damage a person at all, and would in fact go right through them.
Allen also possess a "cursed" eye. His left eye has a mark over it of an inverted pentacle, left from where he was scratched by the Mana Walker (after Mana was revived as an Akuma). This eye evolves, much like an actual Akuma would. It is able to scan for Akuma within a 300 meter radius, and it is also able to force the soul of the Akuma out into plain sight, allowing other people to see it. At one point, Rabi describes the world that Allen sees through his left eye as Hell, indicating that this is definitely a curse, even though it can be useful.
When Akuma are near, a sort of monocle appears over Allen's eye, and he is able to see them, even if they're invisible to others or to the naked eye. His eye also turns from grey to red. This "Akuma vision" works at distances of up to 300 meters. Allen is also able to see the trapped souls within the Akuma. This power tends to just invoke itself, sometimes activating and causing pain to Allen when he's sleeping. (This power only works on Akuma, not on humans or Noah.)
Because of the Fourteenth Noah thing, Allen is able to control the Ark - a device that the Earl used to transport Akuma all over. Allen is able to create gates that can take him (or whoever he chooses) from one place to another, even miles and miles away, virtually instantly. (This ability will bring him to Anatole, but it won't be functional in the game, since there will be no Ark to control.)
Allen is an incredibly apt poker player, and pretty much never loses a hand. He also has a very good poker face. He is very agile, and decent at hand-to-hand combat. He also learned some acrobatics, and he learned how to juggle, when he was spending time with Mana Walker.
As for Nea, the canon isn't entirely clear yet on how he would be effected, so much of what I have to say on this is conjecture, or how I'm choosing to go about it based on what we do know. I hope that's okay!
It's been shown that when Allen starts to lose consciousness in prison, his skin (and hair) turns darker, and he starts to actually become Nea. The only example of Nea taking over his body entirely was when he was fighting the Noah family the last time. Nea stated that he was going to kill the Earl, and become the Earl himself. Allen was trapped inside his own mind by Nea, but was able to regain control again.
Since I have absolutely no intention of having Allen turn into Nea every hour or so, I'll expand on what I'd like to do.
Losing consciousness involuntarily (being hurt very badly or knocked out) would allow Nea to have control - though not permanently - of Allen's body. I don't anticipate this happening a whole lot, but since it's something that could come up, this counts as a weakness. A grave injury or something like a strong blow to the head could cause Allen to stop being the one in control. Allen is aware of Nea's presence there, of course. He can sort of hear him (as I placed in my sample), but not constantly. Even before he knew what Nea looked like, he would see him in mirrors. I'd like to keep that up - sometimes, in a reflective surface, Allen sees Nea standing behind him. No one else has ever been able to see that happening, and it makes Allen a little jumpy - and may make him seem a little off at times.
The strength that Nea gives to Allen is that it really does make Allen even harder to kill (not that it was easy before). Nea doesn't necessarily heal all the injuries - I don't think he can do that - but even after Allen was stabbed by Kanda, he was still able to carry on after Nea took over his body. Nea is a member of the Noah family, and all of them do have high power levels. Allen has high power levels on his own, but Nea just…gives him an extra added bonus. I'm only applying that to Allen's ability to withstand injury (physically, not mentally), because Nea's abilities as a Noah haven't been explored yet.
