Okay, I'm a bad person. I haven't been on here for a while. Posting or reading. So... If you've said anything really great lately, please do let me know about it.

I (or rather my parents) have a self inflating air mattress you can probably borrow if you like. It's a twin, relatively thin (about 1"), intended for backpacking. I also have 2 or 3 foam pads, which is what I usually bring and sleep on, and may be able to get you access to a more bulky twin air mattress + pump if you like.

For tents you really only need 2 pieces of rebar to keep the tent from shifting around in the wind. If you have two corners re bared down simple steaks are ok for the other two.

What do you need a pilot for?

Would the books be coming back year after year? I may have a few dozen to contribute, as I currently have several hundred pounds of them in my basement that my parents would like me to do something with before I go back to Chicago.

I don't remember having a problem with the camelback, but I only used it a few times (most of the time I carried a water bottle in my pocket). I can take a look at it if you like.

Congrats on not having to take the class over. I'm not sure that you win all things, you just seem to have a high incidence rate of thinking something has gone horribly wrong and then discovering that there is some way around it so things aren't anywhere near as bad as you think.

I would perchance borrow the air mattress but we shall see. I don't care for borrowing lots of stuff.

I'll probably still want to take four pieces of re-bar just because I'm the worrying sort.

Any books that go may come back, but it shouldn't be counted on. My idea is to get a bunch of stickers made up (like what SPL puts on their honor system / uncatalogued books), sticker each book and attempt to hand them out. It would be intended as a 'library' system. Take a book. Return it for another. I rather imagine that few books will actually be taken and returned before the end of Burning Man. Most will probably just be taken.

What I am truly curious about is the potential long term results of such a project. Would anybody the following year bring back a long since finished book to return?

Any donations (preferably paperback, preferably not huge) would be gladly accepted. But they would get stickered, and who knows if they'd come back or not.
