Not a bad weekend, really. Sometimes you just need a couple days off. Sunday night I went to draw at Starbucks and, of course, ran into Steve, a retiree actor who is often there reading or working on his lines. We have some great conversations and he has a lot of great stories about living in the valley over the years. Monday morning I got up to drive down to visit Lindsey Ellison in Whittier. Usually we meet for Ramen at Mister Ramen downtown, but Lindsey broke her foot. Instead, I took her out to Mimi's cafe (does anyone else get sleepy when they hear that name?) and had some sinful but quite delicious three berry stuffed french toast (and horrible coffee) that came with orange juice. I then got in a little essential shopping for work & home items at Target and beers at Cost Plus World Market. I also bought a bottle of Torani Cherry syrup for my partner at work because he enjoyed having an Italian soda so much at a restaurant we went to last week. I was rewarded with an entire case of MREs (meal ready to eat) that he brought for me from some military operation. Awesome! I'm putting a few of them in my war bag for those nights you get stuck on a perimeter for hours and are starving and the rest of them are for earthquake supplies.

Monday night Rian came down and we went out boozing. Well, not exactly. I had two beers over a period of hours. But, we first went to an Irish pub (Ireland 32), had a beer and onion rings, and then headed to Cedar House for Lebanese Food. Rian's grandmother is from Lebanon so he love an authentic Lebanese place. We then headed to an English pub that is across the street from Ireland 32. Hours of debate later, we decided that Leonard Cohen and Nirvana are both highly over-rated. There was disagreement about The Smiths.

Work tonight just would. not. pan. out. We were in an unmarked crown-vic working on a couple of hot spots but the criminals just weren't out. A sleepy Tuesday night? I'm not sure. It is frustrating to try so hard to look for baddies and not succeed.
