Anniversary Joy (Closed to Arthur)

Dec 24, 2012 21:19

When Gwen awoke it was with the strongest feeling of love she had felt in so long. Yes she loved him every day but knowing that they had been married for a year now gave her this overwhelming feeling of happiness and joy. She tilted her head and smiled before slowly slipping away from his hold. She was lucky he seemed in such a deep sleep that he ( Read more... )

"I cannot deny that." Nor would he want to try.

Settling down beside her, he took up his cup of coffee-- freshly heated-- and had to nod his agreement. "I will never quite understand the love of cold coffee. Iced, even." Those beverages were far too sweet; he did not even like the common additions of sugar or cream to his.

"It isn't the nicest of ideas. I do not want to even try it to see."

Well, the iced tea for her. She wasn't the biggest fan of coffee. She may have tried it recently but it just hadn't tasted nice to her so she would happily stay with her tea.

"Not too bad," she went on to say, meaning the tea.

Arthur still could not understand how the simple act of pouring boiling water over either leaves or ground beans could taste different when one person did it as opposed to when another did, but facts were facts; Guinevere simply made better tea and coffee than he did.

"That's an improvement over the first time I made it," he remarked. She had not even been able to finish her first sip that time.

Handing her one of the plates, he said, "Despite some time passing and it being reheated, this still looks and smells delicious. Thank you." He gave her a kiss on the cheek before sitting back to take his own plate.

"Well you have had practice."

She couldn't really blame him. He knew no difference before arriving here. As the future King of Camelot he had little responsibility when it came to kitchens and the like. She just appreciated that he didn't keep up with that entitlement here. He got involved in any way possible.

"You're welcome." Though he didn't need to thank her. She took the plate but did not take much to eat. She wasn't feeling too incredibly hungry after all.

Arthur had all but cleared off his plate when he realized Guinevere had not eaten much. "It would have been better fresh," he remarked sympathetically, figuring that was her reason for leaving much of her food untouched.

"Still, I can't really regret putting it off," he added, the smile he gave her warmed by the very recent memory.

"Oh no, it's fine." It really was. She would probably eat later anyway, she just didn't feel like it just yet. But she managed to finish her tea so that was at least something.

However what he said next had her laughing.

"I can," she teased.

He let out a surprised laugh. "Oh, really? Then, I shall have to try to make you forget all about breakfast, I suppose." Leaning over, he kissed her for a minute, before leaning back to remove their plates and set them back on the nightstand.

That done, he began kissing her again.

Yes, they should definitely have an anniversary every day. The longer they were together, the better they got at this-- the concept of what it might be like in ten years' time was mind-blowing.
