So I think I might start using this Blog again. A lot of things have been happening in the last few months....
First and most exciting is my invitation to Tanglewood for the summer. I"m SUPER excited about it. Tanglewood is something I"ve dreamed about for years, and to be able to go there? I"m really excited. Ironically its the centennial of Carter...which will make for some crazy hard counting, but I"m up to the challege. Doubly ironic is my final round position for Norfolk. It was so wierd to call and tell them I was going to forfeit my spot in the round...but my first choice is Tanglewood, hands down. June 15-August 19...almost 9 weeks of crazy cello pressure and performance. I CAN"T WAIT!
Secondly, I'm applying for a GPD. I"m not sure if I really want one, but I am going to audition and decide later. A GPD is interesting if its a full ride...and if its not? Well, not so interesting. A GPD would provide free lessons. I"m all about winning a job in an orchestra, so where ever I can get the training, I'll take it.
Balancing my student load (20), my gigs, practice time, house work and a marriage is really getting to be quite a load. I'm usually only getting 4-6 hours of sleep a night, which really has to change. I feel as if the push in the last year, the BPO work, the driving to Boston 2-7 times a week, is really taking a toll on me. I"m not complaining of course, I'm happy to even have work...its just been really tiring lately. After this week, with the audition and 2 concerts I hope to have a little break.
I'm not sure I will though. I think I might take the North Carolina Symphony audition in May. My resume is in, and I have to rep and the list is stuff I feel pretty secure on. WE'll just have to see. I don't want to go to Tanglewood exhausted!
