I"m going to Manchester Music Festival in VT this summer! YAY! I'm excited as it is a 100% free festival complete with a stipend for day to day living...basically I'm being paid a bit to do the festival! YAY!! I was also accepted to be an orchestral apprentice for Hot Springs Music festival (another fully paid apprenticeship), but going to both would be 8 weeks away...and I need to teach for bills. I will teach all of June and then be gone for 6 weeks. I'm hoping to get R's string quartet played at the festival. I'm assuming there will be pretty good players there...
As for Tanglewood? Nada. I applied to four festivals and was accepted to three. Its a pretty good number but I want Tanglewood. So what did I do? I contacted the cellist on the board and asked him point blank what I was missing. He told me that the audition was very good, that I had more of a stable, controlled audition then previous years and highly improved spiccato..and not to let the results get me down as I had a good audition and the results are subjective. He also told me he would teach me in Tanglewood a bit this summer, so we'll see what happens. Manchester is 1 hour roughly from Tanglewood so I think I can do it.
