Five Epic Fails
5. TWILIGHT
4. THE INCREDIBLE HULK
3. WANTED
2. THE STRANGERS
1. QUANTUM OF SOLACE
10. FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL
While not the best from Apatow's impressive catalog of comedies, the movie was the only one to hit me on any personal level. If you know me and have seen the movie, you'll probably see some of the parallels that I am drawing from.
9. CLOVERFIELD
Who knew you could make Terrorism at the GAP so horrifyingly original?
8. TROPIC THUNDER
Ben Stiller brings together an awesome cast to play in one of the dumbest and most hilarious parodies about war films and Hollywood in general.
7. WALL-E
The humans muck it up (as always!) but damn is this one of the best romances of the year!
6. THE WRESTLER
Only once did I know I was watching a movie and not a documentary and that involves a formulaic plot device in the midst of the best character study and performance as portrayed by Mickey Rourke.
5. GRAN TORINO
Clint Eastwood's crowd pleasing parable packs grit and humor with every punch. I loved it.
4. LET THE RIGHT ONE IN
The best vampire movie in a decade and probably my favorite school drama.
3. HELLBOY 2
I'd say this is the best edited film of 2008 because not a moment drags. Del Toro delivers the ultimate Summer Popcorn movie.
2. SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE
There's probably more fantasy in Danny Boyle's movie about India than Peter Jackson's LOTR series combined, but man, is it the most exciting gangster chick flick ever!
1. THE DARK KNIGHT
The movie goes on far too long. I saw it twice in one day to gather my feelings about it. I can think of nothing more memorable, horrifying, or thrilling than Christopher Nolan's flawed masterpiece. Nothing.
