If I had to recommend any book right now, it would be Go Ask Alice. The author is anonymous, because it is based on the diary of a teenage drug-user who ultimately died.

I read the book quickly, but it doesn't change the fact that I felt so much for this girl when I reached the end. While reading, I had to remind myself that this wasn't a "story"; this happened to somebody. Yes, names and places and certain events were changed, but if you take it one step further, and tell yourself that this person you're reading about is not the only one in the world like this, it doesn't really matter.

Written about 35 years ago, this book is still a big seller at B&N. I bought it during Employee Appreciation Week on a whim. I wasn't able to put it down once I opened up the cover. As you read you become so attached to the writers plight, her going back and forth from being on drugs to getting clean again to dealing with people pushing her to return to their dark world.

The summary on the back of the book doesn't do it justice. The Editor's didn't clog it full of notes either. They're so simple and basic in their message, because the writer of the diaries (she kept 2 in the book) tells everything so vividly.

Entry public, because this book is just that amazing.
