Riverstreet with Paula & Huey?!

Apr 15, 2009 13:21

So we arrived in Savannah late and took a Taxi ride to our Hotel room, although this taxi wasnt quite as bad he did take us through some questionable parts of town lol..

We arrived at the hotel and checked in, went straight up to our room and bascilly crashed, we were tired!

A little about our Hotel The Riverstreet Inn This Inn was an Old Cotton warehouse back in the day. They made some beautiful restorations to it. Greg has wanted to stay at this Inn since we first really started talking about a Savannah trip years ago.

So off on our adventure! We got up a bit early because we wanted to get into line to eat at Paula Deens which was one of my main objectives for this trip! We had to walk everywhere we went so this will be the walking tour of Savannah, We walked down to Paula Deens and arrived around 8:30 am, as we got closer and I could see the sign I was very excited, it was hard to imagine as many years as I dreamed of this moment, I was there!! (I know cheesey!)

The line was already started but we werent too far back. as we walked down the line to head to the back of it, I see Tony Tucci! For those of you who do not know Tony, I went to High school with Tony, and he Bartends at many Family Days events we have and a wedding I catered as well! Anyway, it was kind of funny to see someone we knew in the line at Paula Deens!
(Tony is up there in the gray shirt)

It was FREEZING as we stood in line, but we had fun talking with the people around us. Everyone was teasing me for wearing flip flops, what can I say Im a Florida girl! We discovered (thanks iPhone) There was a starbucks down the street so Greg even went and got us some Starbucks to warm us up!

We had fun taking pictures as we stood in line

Little before 9:30 rolled around and they started taking names for lunch and dinner, We made reservations for 7:15 - After standing in line one of the ladies we were talking with was nice enough to take our picture in front of Paula's.

After making our dream reservations we headed back to the Hotel to get warm for a minute and figure out where we wanted to eat breakfast! We discovered there was a place downstairs called Hueys, so we decided to check it out! It was New Orleans style cuisine and YUMMY!

To start our breakfast off right we had some Beignets (ben-yays) they came out warm and with a praline sauce *drools*

Greg got the Creole omlette and I got a mushroom, swiss and tomato omlette with parmesan and garlic grits omg they were so good!

After our amazing breakfast we took a stroll along the river and checked out some of the shops.. One was a Candy shop, it was so awesome, wish we had a place like this here!  They made Pralines right there in the shop which we decided to bring some home!

After strolling we decided to make our way to Forsythe park, the Cemetary and the Catherdrial.. Stay Tuned!
