My goodness! I thought Shoemakers dress code was... retarded! Theres doesnt even compare to danielle's! check out her dress code! She is gonna be very HIGHLY upset when she finds out! We have to go shopping!

UNIFORM DRESS POLICY
Mandatory Compliance

All students are expected to be dressed appropriately according to our Uniform Dress Policy. There will be no student exempted from the Uniform Dress Policy. If you need assistance with clarification of any portion of this policy, please see an administrator.

Shirts (Boys & Girls)

· Any solid color is acceptable, denim is acceptable

· Collared polo, button down or Oxford

· Worn tucked into pants, shorts or skirts

· Turtleneck (mock or regular)

· Short or long sleeves, no sleeveless

· All shirts must have buttons and button to the neck. No more than two buttons from the top may be unbuttoned.

· Must not be tight or oversized

· No transparent or sheer materials or net

· No tank tops, spaghetti straps, or bare midriffs

· No zippers

· No logos over 1 ½ inch square

Skirts/jumpers/skorts

Colors: Navy/blue, black, tan/khaki and gray solids

· Denim is acceptable

· No spandex

· No shorter than finger tip length

Sweatshirts/sweaters/vests

· Any solid color

· Worn over legal shirt

· Must fit at wrist and no longer than waist

· No graphics other than 1 ½ inch manufacturers logo

· No logos on back

· Hooded sweatshirts appropriate when weather indicates. Hoods to be worn outside only

Pants/Shorts

· Any straight leg pants of denim, cotton, twill, corduroy, polyester in the following solid colors; Navy/blue, black, tan/khaki and gray

· Belts are required and should be worn appropriately with no excess belt hanging

· Pant legs no wider than 10 inches, and not dragging the ground

· Denim is acceptable, Regular cut, straight legged

· No multi color pants, tie dyed, acid washed, stone washed

· No spandex, visible zippers, coveralls or overalls, leggings

· No baggy, dropped crotch, saggy, or Jenko brand

· Pants/shorts must fit properly at the waist, the inseam and the hem, not excessively tight

· No pants with patch pockets anywhere (except 5-pocket jean-style), decorative seams, brads, or studs. Pants, shorts, skirts must have side seam pockets only

· No sweat pants or shorts, athletic shorts, swishy or nylon pants/shorts

· No Capri pants

· Crop pants are acceptable as long as they are not spandex or excessively tight

· Shorts must be at least fingertip length, but no longer than the bend of the knee

· No bike shorts or spandex

Coats/Jackets

· Worn over legal clothing

· Jackets are discouraged while in class

· Denim is acceptable

· Clothing with professional or college sports teams’ names/logos is permitted

· Hoods to be worn outside only

· Fleece with zipper acceptable if worn as jacket

Spirit Days/Dances

· Students may wear approved Monroe insignia shirts/sweatshirts on days that are approved by the administration (pants must still be in compliance)

· Members of student/civic/scouting organizations may wear their organization’s shirts/uniforms when approved by the administration

· Athletic participants may wear dress approved by the administration on designated days

General Dress Code Guidelines

Students and their parents/guardians are responsible for compliance with Monroe’s Student Uniform Dress Policy.

· No clothing or accessories which promote negative behaviors (profanity, violence, sex, drugs, alcohol, bigotry, disrespect, gangs) or that is highly distractive, disruptive or immodest

· No gang related clothing, no chains or spiked jewelry, no wallet or pocket chains or jewelry that can be construed as a weapon (ex. cluster of objects on a necklace or excessively large belt buckle)

· No more than two necklaces, no facial or tongue jewelry (pierced ears are acceptable). Necklaces that are metal ball or chain-like are not allowed

· Undergarments shall not show at any time

· No clothing that is excessively torn, tattered, long or excessively faded

· No sunglasses, hair nets, hats or bandanas, and no writing on backpacks

· Shoes must be worn at all times. For safety reasons, flip-flops, backless shoes, platforms, high heels and sandals are discouraged

· Clothing under jackets must be in compliance with Monroe Uniform Dress Policy

· Jackets are discouraged while in class

· Clothing must be clean and neat

· Shirts must be worn tucked into pants, shorts or skirts

General Dress Code Guidelines (cont’d)

· Belts are required and should be worn appropriately with no excess belt hanging. No excessively large buckles allowed

· No clothing that is excessively tight/form fitting or excessively loose/baggy.

Dress Code Penalties/Consequences

Violations will be dealt with as a minor offense as outlined in the Student Handbook.

CONSEQUENCES FOR MINOR BEHAVIOR OFFENSES

· 1st warning - change of clothes

· 2nd warning - lunch duty with custodian

· 1st offense - 3 days of lunch detention

· 2nd offense - 5 days of lunch detention

· 3rd offense - 3 days of TIPS (in school suspension) & parent notification

· 4th offense - begins consequence hierarchy at 2nd offense level for Medium Offenses
