Hello everyone,

I hope you are all well. I'm still alive but have been rather busy and doing something of the hibernating thing.

As you may remember, my current job ends in 3 weeks (although I continue to be paid until the end of August). I have job hunted and attended some interviews, without success. Obviously I'd like a new teaching job to slip into come September, but at the moment that is seeming increasingly unlikely, and I'm resigned to the fact that I will probably be having to join the supply teacher route for a while. This is by no means an ideal situation but I have to keep the money coming in. And, as my boss said, it is a good way to get known in a school and in the local area generally. So, I'm continuing to apply for the decreasing number of jobs being listed, and am hoping something comes up soon. But am also realistic enough to know that at this stage in the game, it probably won't.

So... Yeah, that's that for the moment.

In other news, I had my first appointment at the hospital with regard to getting my squint corrected further. I see the consultant... gosh. Next Wednesday. I asked the optician who saw me last week, who said the waiting list isn't very long at all as waiting lists go... I could be in theatre by November. Which makes the whole process seemingly rather quick for a non-urgent procedure.

But anyway, I actually came online to reflect on some stuff I just found on my hard drive.
For some reason I felt the urge to trawl through some of the more random documents in there. Many of them relating to my 4-year-give-or-take life in the Josh Groban fandom. There were blog posts from an underground snark blog run by myself and Jaz.
(Whole backstory there.  I considered her a good friend for a couple of years back in the late 00's and we met up in London a couple of times for days of utter fun-filled madness.  I tried to organise get-togethers in later years, only to be politely shunned with claims of being too busy.  I was prepared to do all the travelling from Newbury to London, made the request to meet a couple of times...  In the end I left the ball in her court, but she's never volleyed it back to me.  She used to be a regular LJ user, but gave it up, seemingly for good a couple of years ago now.  I don't think she even reads here any more, but if she does, I'd love to get back in touch!)
Anyway, the blog itself seems to have been shut down...  So I'm glad to still have the Word docs of the vast majority of the posts.  Gotta say, even though it's talking about ancient history, it's still pretty funny!

THEN, I came across a doc that discussed a stupid fall-out I had with a woman named Jen, who went by the name confidentwoman.  I had the foresight at the time to put a little of her background, as I understood it anyway, into the doc for my own future reference, and it's actually facinating.  I'd forgotten all about her, but she did have something of a tragic story.  I wonder very much what happened to her?  As I put into the doc at the time, "I wonder if the men in white coats finally came for her?"  Her story was quite sad really...
Then there was the talented violinist, whose real name I always forget.  She seemed to have some sort of break-down/fantasy about dating the singer of some well-known band.  She disappeared eventually as well.

Every so often I find myself wondering about ex-LJ friends.  Where are they now?  What direction did life take them in?  Are they happy?
