Firstly, thanks to the folk who left me kind messages on my last blog or two about the job situation. I'm over it now. It wasn't unexpected news and while I'm disappointed at the hassle that is/will come in the next few months, I'm ready to deal with it.
Here's song 12. 'O Fortuna' from 'Carmina Burana'.

Things To Say:
- Even before I started doing "serious" choral singing, I've wanted to sing this piece. Then, since I knew I was capable of doing it justice, I've had this song on my "Singing Bucket List". I finally got the chance in June last year, singing the alto part. I was sitting right by the drums, which made it all the more exciting.
- It starts all forte and crazy. Goes all piano and staccato. Then, at 1:39 it's serious forte at a "rip your vocal cords to shreds" level of sound. Lots of warm-up needed and holding that long note at the end is WORK.
- This is the first (and to-date, only) piece where I've been able to effectively roll my "r" in the correct place.
- Even now, I get a little bit choked at the 1:39 point. Because, fuck, that's one awesome moment. It's the musical equiv. of that perfect moment where you FINALLY get to punch an annoying person in the face. OWNED.
- Oh, and that single drum beat that starts the madness at 1:39 is epic. Prior to that it's all SO controlled but the tension builds and builds because every single person knows exactly what is coming.
Think I might just dedicate the next few pieces on this 100 Things Challenge to my choral classics. Get it out of my system.
