[Almost immediately after Syaoran's transmission came through on his communicator, Fai found himself running out of the bedroom. He'd been lying comfortably - not quite sound enough to sleep, but still serene enough to have pushed the thought of the Clone Syaoran's situation out of his mind.

Of course, that didn't last. Frantically, he grabbed the few things he could need, half-expecting Kurogane to already be halfway out the door by the time he could get to it.]

[He closed his eyes, trying to see if he could get a sense of where Syaoran could be. He still kept pace with Kurogane for a moment before stopping.]

[Trusting the mage's instincts (or whatever it was), Kurogane nodded and turned to follow.]

[Fai couldn't really be sure, especially since Syaoran was chipped - it made his magic difficult to sense. But it seemed right, so he followed his instinct along the old, broken roads.

After a few minutes, he stopped dead in his tracks, swallowing hard at the sight before him.]

Syaoran-kun!!

[Kurogane stopped, his eyes wide as they found him. And the sight wasn't pretty. He took a few moments to take it in, to remind himself that it wasn't permanent. It's not permanent.

He carefully placed his hand on Fai's shoulder.]

[Fai's face crumbled - there was no way that Syaoran could still be alive. He couldn't bring himself to look away from the gory scene though. He was silent for a long time, and jumped slightly at Kurogane's touch. When he finally spoke, the tone was low, broken.]

It was... the other Syaoran-kun.

[Seeing death this up close and personal wasn't totally new to Kurogane, but it still hurt every time. Sighing, he checked the time on his communicator.]

We should go. I'll be at the hospital tomorrow to pick him up.

[Fai nodded his head reluctantly. He knew, but he still wasn't okay with it - not in the slightest. He was used to death; seeing it so close, seeing people he cared for in that state. But it never got any easier, especially because it was Syaoran. He clutched Kurogane's arm lightly, laden with concern.]

I'll go with you. Tomorrow.

[He didn't want Fai to come - if it was possibly dangerous, he didn't want the mage anywhere near it, but he wouldn't deny Fai this.

He gave Fai's shoulder a squeeze and turned to walk away.]
