SPN season six: thoughts and stuff

May 20, 2010 16:27

Upfronts were today, and the CW has released the "official" show description for Supernatural's season 6. All I can say outside of the cut is, I'm pleased. Very pleased. I will put the description under a cut, and with it, a few thoughts about why I'm pleased.

pie, anyone? )

I am so thrilled for S6 for all the reasons youa rticulate so well here. One of the wodnerful parts of Dean's arc has been the peeling back of the layers, to reveal that the man presented at first as the lone wolf hunter, values family and connection above all else.

Of course the big question will be what is it that draws Dean back into hunting (and away from Lisa and Ben)? And how Sam got out of Hell? Did Cas grip him tight too?

I am wondering if the hunt for God will be back on, as the one who can bring peace to the Heaven/Hell war.

And I am so hoping we get a season opener that mirrors the Pilot in some way.

except for more hugging!

Though hopefully without anyone burning on the ceiling!

I really hope that Kripke and Co. don't kill Lisa and Ben. But I kind of expect that they will. :(

Dean wants the family life he vaguely remembers from his childhood, and he has idealized it to an an unhealthy degree, but that doesn't mean his desire for normalcy and for a rest from the road (as he's been saying for three years, essentially) isn't true to his character.

Yes, this is how I see it too. We have plenty of canon evidence that Dean longs for the life, and just because he idealizes it, doesn't mean he would never ever be able to live it for at least some length of time. I see him as being restless (and really, no peace/happiness in a world where there is no SAM...) but I don't buy that he couldn't have it to some degree, especially if Sam is alive and back in his life, or that Dean and Lisa could never work. I'd be curious to see if those two worlds could be worked in together. Dean could be on the road a lot, but have a home base to return to.

I will break the TV if Lisa or Ben is hurt. Full stop.

This is one of my greatest terrors about S6.

Castiel as a regular, YAY!!! Sam and Dean, saving people, hunting things, ( ... )

I fell behind in S3 and never did get caught up, but everything I'm hearing about S6 is making me excited to pick the show back up again. :-) Which makes me happy.

The whole idea of Season 6 now pretty much makes me happy. I agree about Dean completely. He has always wanted a family of his own.

And now, I have some hope again that there are possibilities for both Sam and Dean. It's not all dark and miserable and hopeless. I want to see where they go with this. There's a lot of potential for good shows here. And mostly for Dean and Sam to grow together as adults.

Yes, I'm happy with what they describe.

Ditto on hurting Ben or Lisa.

I've enjoyed fanfic with Ben on the road with the boys, but I don't want to actually see it happen. . .
