New Jack/Daniel story: Descant

Feb 06, 2006 08:20

I've been working on this story for more than a year. I actually finished it in September, but I needed to figure out a few things about the story before revising it. It took longer than I expected. *g*

Descant
58K (11,000 words)
Jack/Daniel, explicit; spoilers through season seven, and then more or less AU thereafter

Oh, I can't read for hours yet (I'm at work waiting for students, sigh) but now I have good J/D fic to look forward to when I get home.

I have that problem, too, at work. It's truly annoying, isn't it? Pesky work. *g*

I'm home now, and in my jammies, and have just finished reading. So sweet and sad and happy and hopeful. I feel so bad for Sam, and for Sarah too, but when you're the third wheel in a tale of true love, there's nothing to be done.

You give really great Jack voice, and Daniel is so true to himself here, self-aware but not always able to use that awareness to control his world.

I'm glad they get a happy ending, after all that time.

I think reading slash in PJs (with tea or hot chocolate nearby) may be the best thing ever. :) Thank you for the lovely feedback, particularly about the Jack-voice. He was feeling a bit rusty, and the longer I held on to this story, the rustier he got. *g*

Very nice! I like it a lot. I'm going to read it again and again, just to enjoy the words. Poor Jack. Poor Daniel. Poor Sam. Poor Sarah. Still, out of the mess, something rises. Lovely writing and believable situation. Yay for Jack and Daniel at the end! And thanks for the definition at the end, because it's neat to see how it all ties together.

Thank you very much! :) It's odd, the way the story seemed to take on its final shape once I found the right title; the structure of the narrative snapped into place because of the way I saw their lives twining like lines of music. I'm sure that makes no sense whatsoever, but there you have it.

Very nice. It was so lovely to see a happy ending after so many wrong turns and decisions made for all the wrong reasons. And I love the title.

Thank you. :) I wonder, sometimes, how it really would turn out for Jack/Sam or Jack/Daniel. I think perhaps Jack/Daniel wouldn't have a much better chance than Jack/Sam. But that's a different story. *g*
