Wiseguy, smut, and rain
First of all, I must point out that widget285 is absolutely to be blamed for this beautiful cover lerefuge made for Twenty-Nine. Thank you both so much! :D
Over the weekend, I cracked open the Sonny Steelgrave arc of Wiseguy and started watching. The first chuckle I had was over the text of the booklet stashed inside the set, wherein it says, and I quote: "As the Steelgrave Arc unfolded, Vinnie's feelings for Sonny grew stronger..." And then the show's story editor is quoted as saying that Sonny fell in love with his betrayer.
*perks up*
Really? Does that make it canon? I mean, I don't want to jump to conclusions, but there are a few other hints, too. (she said dryly)
So. Sonny plucks Vinnie off the street, installs him in a plush apartment (Vinnie later refers to this as being 'shacked up'), gives him a red Porsche to drive, buys him expensive suits, and trusts him with his life. He totally ignores all credible evidence that Vinnie is a) not who he says he is and b) always in the thick of trouble, while c) bailing him out of jail repeatedly. Vinnie, in return, tells Sonny what he will and won't do, how he will and won't do it, and tells Sonny what *he* should do. And Sonny does it, preferably while touching Vinnie a lot in manly, comforting ways.
Sonny killed for Vinnie, or ordered others to kill for him. Same difference. Not too long after that, they had a fight and broke up; Vinnie returned the jewelry Sonny gave him. (Would I kid you about a thing like this?) Sonny took the elevator down to Vinnie's and walked right in, as he is wont to do -- like he owns the place. Which he pretty much does. *g* Tearful recriminations followed (okay, there were no tears, but there was some vulnerable wibbling), wherein Vinnie tried to give back his suits and made it clear he wasn't just any kept boy to be pushed around! Sonny gave him a hug and a kiss and made it all better. (This is the part where I scrambled for the remote to rewind, because I couldn't believe my eyes.) Sonny meets Vinnie's mom, lavishes the best doctors and medical care money can buy on her, and does his level best to ingratiate himself into Vinnie's family.
Later, after Vinnie is exposed as a cop, Sonny and Vinnie beat each other to a bloody pulp, give each other a ten-minute eyefuck, and then Sonny tells Vinnie he loved him and commits suicide in the most horrible way possible.
Yep. Sounds like true, slashy, twisted love to me.
Also, after that horrifying little post-prison-rape description Vinnie gave in The Prodigal Son, I'll bet there are approximately 5,874,298,827 prison rape/aftermath stories in Wiseguy fandom, yes? Because I'm sure most fans decided instantly that this meant he wasn't recounting something he saw, with descriptive detail, but rather his own woobie-like pillow-stuffing experiences.
Wow, I'm really jaded.
So to those of you (itsthewa) who were telling me I'd have to be blind not to see it, or those of you (sef1029) who said I'd like it because it's my thing, you were right. I totally get it now. If only there were some stories to read. *sigh*
In other news, I seem to have lost the ability to write hot smutty smut. It was a dark and stormy night (no, really)...I had Jack and Daniel in the motel room and I was waiting for them to cooperate...
Me: Jack, throw Daniel against the wall.
Jack: *gives Daniel a little push*
Me: That's the best you can do??
Jack: Violence won't make this scene any better.
Me: *wibbles, then mentally repositions them*
Me: Okay, Daniel, throw Jack against the wall.
Daniel: Oh, hell yeah! *blink* Wait, though. That's not really my MO.
