Sophie and Eliot ficlet--Leverage

Happy holidays, dearest, most wonderful and talented ifreet!! Here is your stocking-stuffer ficlet, as requested.

With a little flourish he would probably deny on pain of excruciating death, Eliot sets the platter of stuffed mushrooms in front of Sophie.

She picks one up and bites into it, an explosion of flavors in her mouth-breadcrumbs, sundried tomatoes, lemon, basil and the firm, almost meaty texture of the mushroom flesh. Sophie moans around the bite.

"You are a genius," she says.

He tops up her glass of wine and grins. "Mrs. Mosconi didn't seem to think so."

"That is because in addition to being an evil shrew, she is a tasteless idiot." She picks up the glass and drinks deeply-a crisp, clean and delicious white. "You know wines, too?"

Eliot shrugs and pours himself a glass. "You pick up things."

Sophie takes another bite. "Are those pine nuts?"

"I toast them first to bring out the flavor," he says modestly.

"There is just nothing like a man who can cook."

"Well, most things taste better when you're naked," he admits, running a hand up her thigh.

"They do, don't they?" Sophie stretches luxuriously on the butter-soft sheets.

They toast each other, clinking glasses with a smile.

Eliot really is just full of the most delightful talents.
