Summary : Taguchi has his ear to all of his friends story, including Tatsuya. But somehow, Tatsuya feels there's something wrong with his friend. That makes him confronts him TWICE. Why's that?

Taguchi sit on the couch in Kame’s room as his hand hugging one of Kame’s pillow. He set his serious face as he listen to every word from Kame. As usual, Taguchi will change 180 degrees from his usual behavior, the one who like to smile and KY while he’s listening to his friends who tried to telling him all of their stories. The stories they want to keep it secret from others. But Taguchi will only sit in silence, listening to every words from them. He never object anything from his friends words.
One hour later, Tatsuya saw Taguchi coming out from Kame’s room. With his usual smile plastered his face.
“Ah, Tatsuya. You’re home already. How’s your School magazine club? Everything’s okay?”
“Hn. Everything’s okay as usual” Tatsuya answered coldly. Even so, it seems like Taguchi doesn’t realize that coldly tone. He keep smiling “warmly” to Tatsuya. After a few seconds in silence, Taguchi said, “Then, I’m going to go to my room, kay? If you need anything, you know where to find me, right?” He walked away from Tatsuya.
Tatsuya just give him his nod. His eyes never leaving Taguchi as he leaving him away to his room. Not so long after that, Tatsuya heard Taguchi’s laugh from his room. Tatsuya think, maybe Taguchi’s found his PS already and playing it. Or he’s listening to Koki’s stories again.
Tatsuya and Taguchi are living in their university dormitory. They live together in this pavilion with 4 others; Koki, Nakamaru, Kame and Akanishi. They attended in one university, of course. Even so, you can tell that they barely meet, because they have a different clubs in college. The one who meet Tatsuya the most is Koki, because they both in one club, School magazine. And then Akanishi and Nakamaru, both from Soccer club. And Kamenashi as a captain in baseball club. And the last is Taguchi. He’s the one who meet each of them the most, because he didn’t join any club.
Tatsuya was known for his stoicity between his friends. He’d never tell anything to anyone, except maybe to Taguchi. Different from him, Taguchi was known for his hyperactive behavior and his sunny smile that always plastered on his face. He’s known for never be angry to anyone. It makes everyone likes to disturbed and bullied him, without any afraid of the object’s angriness. Taguchi only responds their bullying by his smile or by pretending his whinning.
Even though he gives a childish impression, somehow, most of his friends choose him as a close friend. The one who can they put a trust. They asked him to listen to their stories, or even yelled at him when they’re mad and need someone to be yelled at. Taguchi never object them if they want him to listened to their stories. He always give them his ears to listens to them all.
And Tatsuya understand why his friends like that. If you’re with Taguchi, you’ll understand. Taguchi has a unique aura around him. The kind of aura that makes you keep calm and calm enough to makes you tell him all of your story. Only with Taguchi, he can tell him all of his story. He won’t be so open to other people unless with Taguchi.
As the time goes by, Tatsuya started to think, there’s something odd with Taguchi. Everytime he told him his story, Tatsuya always asked Taguchi to tell him his story. But Taguchi always replied his offer by his infamous smile and said, “There’s nothing I want to tell to you, Tatsuya. Don’t worry about me. Let’s make your problem clear first, okay.”
At first, Tatsuya thought that Taguchi did haven’t had any story to tell to him. Or maybe, Tatsuya thought, maybe Taguchi didn’t want to tell anything to Tatsuya, but he might tell it to Kame or the others. But, after some time, he often repeat the question, and again, he got the same answer, Tatsuya began to feel there’s something’s not right about it. Moreover, when Tatsuya accidentally heard Kame asked the same thing as he did and got the same answer as his. What’s wrong with Taguchi?
Thus, he intended to run his own plan. To find out, who’s the one Taguchi choose to tell all of his story.
Tatsuya feel a little strange pain in his chest when he thought Taguchi choose someone else with a plain face instead of him to trusted his stories.

Tatsuya opened Taguchi’s door. He could see Taguchi is enjoying himself, playing some games in his PSP as he sleep in his bed. He doesn’t even realize that his door just open. What a game freak!
“Hey, Taguchi.” Tatsuya call him with his plain voice.
No answer.
“Taguchi!” He put a higher volume in his voice this time.
Taguchi’s grumbling to his PSP. It seems like he just lost a round in his game.
“Taguchi!!” Tatsuya started to shake Taguchi’s shoulder. Taguchi finally realize there’s someone else beside him as he feels the shake on his shoulder. He turned his head to Tatsuya.
“Oh, hi Tatsuya.” He showed his infamous smile in his face. “What’s wrong?”
Tatsuya shaking a bento at his hand in front of Taguchi’s face. “I just bought a bento, and I didn’t realize that I just bought more than my stomach can take. For you!”
Tatsuya threw up the bento to Taguchi’s lap.
“Wow, you’re so kind. Buying an extra bento for me. Thank you!!”
“I said, I didn’t realize that I just bought more than my stomach can take. I didn’t buy it special for you.” Tatsuya denied it with his cold voice as usual. But, as if didn’t realize Tatsuya’s cold voice, Taguchi opened his bento, and screamed excitedly to see the bento’s content.
“Sushi!! Arigatou, Tatsuya!”
“Oh, forget it..” Tatsuya give up to see a cheerful smile from Taguchi. He knows, he won’t able to convince him, anyway.
“so, what do you want to tell me about?” Taguchi asked as he chewing the sushi.
Tatsuya leaned his head on the wall, the words that came out from his mouth still in the cold voice, “Who said that I wanna tell you anything?” Taguchi keep staring at him, still chewing his sushi, smiling.
“Oh, what about Ryo-chan. are you guys in a good term now?” Taguchi suddenly asked. Tatsuya surprised. Can Taguchi read people’s mind, now? He does want to tell him something about his fight with the president club of School Magazine.
“eh? not yet. You know, he’s the one at fault because he didn’t collect his photos in time, that’s why I couldn’t finish my article on time without his photos. Baka senpai! Why did I have to apologize while I’m not the one at fault?” Without realize it, Tatsuya has told Taguchi his story that he denied before about his stupid senpai to Taguchi (he still enjoying his sushi). Taguchi just listening to him patiently.
Fifteen minutes later, Tatsuya finished his story. Breathless for his angriness, he took Taguchi’s drink. Taguchi just pats Tatsuya’s back. “Don’t worry Tatsuya. Ryo-chan just not in a good mood that day. He’s not that bad. He’s a good guy, you know. Trust me.”
“Un? What? Why are you staring at me with that look?” Taguchi tilt his head cutely, confused.
“Nishikido? Good guy? ugh, I never combined ‘Nishikido’ and ‘good guy’ before. he never be a ‘good guy’ in front of me before, you know. Always yelled at me. Besides, since when did you called Nishikido by his true name?” Tatsuya staring at him, curious, suspicious, and what...jealous?
“Eh? Don’t be like that, Tatsuya, he does a good guy. And since when? I think since i’ve known him..maybe? I don’t know, I’m not too sure..” Taguchi answered.
Tatsuya still looking at Taguchi with his suspicious look. Nishikido and Taguchi? Since when they’re so close? The way Taguchi called Nishikido before, it’s for sure that they’re so close, right? Could it be, Nishikido’s the one Taguchi choose to told him all his stories? And as usual, Tatsuya could feel that strange feeling everytime he thought or imagined that there’s someone else beside him that closer to Taguchi.
“Taguchi,” Tatsuya started, “you.. there’s something you wanna tell me? I often asked you to listened to my stories..”
“...But not once YOU heard MY stories. yeah, yeah, yeah Tatsuya. I’m so bored to hear that question from you, you know. I can’t help it. What did I have to tell you? I didn’t even have any story to begin with.” Taguchi interrupted Tatsuya’s question with his deep sigh.
“Hmm?” Tatsuya narrowed his eyes. “Are you sure? Are you not lying?”
“Why should I lie to you?” Taguchi raised his eyebrow. However Tatsuya could see that Taguchi turned his gaze away from Tatsuya.
Tatsuya sighed. Well, maybe he does have someone else he trusted his stories. Tatsuya hold on to that beliefs. Tatsuya could feel that strange pain again, as he thought about it.
“Come on Tatsuya, don’t think about that. Don’t you feel tired for thinking about it? Come on, smile!” Taguchi gives him his wide smile to Tatsuya. It makes Tatsuya smile too.
“Wow. You’re smiling. The great Ueda Tatsuya's finally smiling!!” Taguchi claps his hands as he laughed. Makes him got a smacked from Tatsuya. Taguchi’s smile’s fades, replaced by a pain whimper.
“But, seriously. You should leave your stoic style, Tatsuya. You look so much better with your smile in your face. And they’ll know, how nice you are when you’re smiled. You know that a smile can change people’s world?” Taguchi asked.
“Hm? where did this silly teory come from? Well, I didn’t expect anything more from someone who has a sunny smile like you.” Tatsuya leaned his head at the wall again. Feeling comfortable with their small discussion.
“Un,” Taguchi nodding with a seriousness in his face. Tatsuya restrain himself not to smile at Taguchi’s expression. He looks so cute with his serious expression. “When we feel down, the one we need so much is a comfortable feeling. A smile is one of a smallest form of comfortable we can give to the one who’s feeling down. A smile can makes a heart strong too.”
“I’m not too sure about that. Anyway, you’ll fill out the school magazine’s questionnaire this month, right?” Tatsuya asked suddenly.
Taguchi nodding, “Sure. I always been filling out the school magazine’s questionnaire every month. Why? Why are you asking something like that so suddenly?”
“Err.. nothing. Because.. because this month’s questionnaire is about friendship day, right? I wanna make sure you fill out that questionnaire. Because, well, you’re my best friend, right? So you have to filling that out.” Tatsuya said nervously.
Taguchi smile widely to hear that Tatsuya thought that he’s his best friend. :Okay! I’ll make sure myself to fill that questionnaire out. For you, Tatsuya!” Taguchi smugged. “When will that questionnaire be distributed?”
“Today. I bring it with me for you.” Taguchi raised his eyebrows. Accepting the questionnaire’s sheet from Tatsuya. What makes Tatsuya really want to make sure that he’ll filling the questionnaire?
“Okay, I’ll go back to my room, now. And you! Don’t forget to fill the questionnaire, and collect it to the school magazine club’s room.” Tatsuya stand up from Taguchi’s bed. As Taguchi waves his hand to him with his smile, of course.
