Well, let's see...
For those of you who don't know me well (yet!) once a year I am dragged, kicking and screaming by my wonderful Significant Other to go to Central Oregon with him for a golfing tournament. The first couple of years I HATED it. After all, rural Oregon is what I fled the minute I graduated from high school. Gun racks and tumbleweeds are really not my thing (although I have owned a truck.)
Unfortunately, every time I come out here I get a hankerin' to write me a western AU. Someday I will.
Well, this is what we had to go through to get here:
I've already sent a letter to Mother Nature complaining about the late snow but it keeps coming. She's already wiped out most of the fruit crops for this year in Oregon. She must really be pissed.
Here's more (taken from the car.)
Okay - then we finally got to the golf course. Every year, I wander off the golf course and scare wildlife. One year I scared a plethora of lizards, some snakes, several rodents of various sizes and finally, a badger (although, I'm fairly sure I was more frightened than the badger.)
Anyway, this year the course was one of the snooty ones and there were houses on every side. Also, everything is still hibernating because of the snow. Not only was I freezing, I was also bored out of my mind and this was my only solace:
Even so, 'at the turn' as those of us in the know say, I bailed and went back to the clubhouse to drink beer. After all, this is central Oregon. Not only do they have cross-gendered pregnant people, they have lots and lots of good beer.
Nope. The bar was closed. Instead, I sat in the empty clubhouse and wrote longhand, working on my Yaoi-con story. That's turned into a disaster. I think my writing confidence is shaken. Easy enough for that to happen with me, I have a huge, yet fragile ego when it comes to writing.
Well, at the end of the day we got to our hotel room. I love this place. This is why:
Also, our wonderful room has wireless, a DVD player (notice the basketball game on the TV) a gas fireplace and llamas outside! Tomorrow, I am staying in my room, writing and watching Sense & Sensibility (I brought it with me.) Eh, I might drive into Bend an hit a brewpub for lunch, or possibly a tour of Deschutes Brewery.
Three days of writing. Woo hoo! Come on brain/imagination, don't fail me now!
More later...
