...1 class down, 1 to go...

I'll start with Cotton Ball.
No, I wasn't in it. I have my issues with the origin, the elitism, etc. It started as a racist, elitist debutante ball. It is integrated now, but still, it has a racist overtone. And I only saw white people. I did get a chance to read the history. Turns out it was started in the depression to raise money for those in need. They wanted to invite people with money for that reason. During those times it happened that white people were usually the people with money. Not to mention, racism was pretty rampant then. Anyways, it has always had good intentions, but it doesn't make it right.
Well, one of my friends invited me, so I went because I wanted to see my friends, and I wanted to see what this thing was really like. When Megs, Amy, Scott, and I got there, everyone was already drinking...parents and kids. Then they had the 'presentation' part a.k.a. an 'upscale' May Day with wedding dresses. We left for dinner and came back to a crazy dance party. We're talking practically every single person wasted. My favorite was seeing some of the belles, girls in wedding dresses, with bud lights in their hands. haha. Dr. and Mrs. Walker were also a favorite. And one of my little campers was there! She and I jump roped together. A few of us decided to go ahead and leave rather than stay for the hotel room parties.
Overall, it was what I expected. I mean, the money goes to charity, yay, but I feel like a new tradition could be started with the same intentions but without the racist overtones.

The lake was gorgeous this weekend. I needed a short vacation.

Of course, I didn't need my mom interrupting this vacation at 12 am to tell me that my brother is in the hospital and has been for a week. She's been keeping this from me for a week bc a) She "didn't want me to cry" like she and dad have been for the past week. and b) She "didn't want to hurt me." Well, for the record, the times that I have been most hurt in my life are when people keep important things like this from me.
Anyways, she also decided that night to not expound on what exactly was wrong with him. And hearing my dad cry...not very encouraging.
Turns out he'll be okay. He had some internal bleeding which the doctor said he has seen happen with people who weight train a lot.
Thanks to everyone who sat with me.

I'm leaving Chattanooga in 10 days.
