After his shift, James Wilson (Boy Wonder Oncologist) heads for home. Or at least the hotel he's been calling home for quite some time now. The thought that he should maybe consider looking into an apartment, which, while not quite as convenient, would certainly be cheaper in the long run is really quite rudely interrupted by the realization that the hotel lobby has changed. Drastically. Since this morning.
His eyebrows furrow as he looks around, taking in the new surroundings. "Huh." Well, it looked like the right place on the outside. Same address, same street. Surely he would know if he mistakenly entered the wrong hotel. That's kind of hard to do.
Possible explanations?
Well, the first thing that comes to mind is House. After being the target of some very bizarre and very juvenile practical jokes, this is exactly the sort of stunt Wilson is sure he would find hilarious! Except, it's probably not very likely because not even House is capable of having an entire hotel lobby remodeled in the span of a single day.
So, maybe a dream? No. Probably not a dream either. He doesn't remember going to bed, after all. Plus, if he was already asleep, he likely wouldn't feel tired in a dream.
Other scenarios play out in his mind, but he dismisses those as well as being too unlikely. He even briefly contemplates walking out the door, then coming back in. Just to see if the lobby goes back to what it should look like. That is quickly dismissed as well. It's a silly idea, after all. Unless the whole thing is either a dream or a hallucination, there's no reason to believe that simply leaving and coming back in will set things right.
So for a few moments, he just stands there. And stares. And looks even more confused. Finally, he makes up his mind and heads for the desk to ring the bell. At least he can ask if his room is still where he left it this morning.
((Typistly remarks: I've been told a Wilson was needed since the last one apparently went missing a long time ago. So, brand spankin' new journal (no connections with the previous Wilson here), and introductory post. Whee! xD))
