Intro Post: Adam Monroe

The man who stumbles into the hotel is smartly dressed and seems as if he would the type to be well-groomed if not for the fact that he looks as if he just wandered out of an unpleasant portion of hell. It takes him a moment to notice his own state, staring around at the hotel lobby in confusion. When he does, he straightens up, trying to smooth ( Read more... )

"There's no one there," Claire notes from the bottom of the staircase. She's looking Adam over with interest, his appearance simple enough except for the stained and dirty suit. "There's no staff at all, as far as we know, but you can still take your key." Thoughtfully, she adds, "Where'd you come in from?"

Adam glances over at the voice; well, now, at least his mind is playing nice, now. "No staff at all? What a strange hotel. Where would I get my key?" He looks down at his clothes, wishing he were a bit cleaner. "I - am afraid I just got mugged." It seems like a good enough lie. "So you will have to forgive me for my state."

"Ouch!" She winces. "Are you okay? Did they get anything?" The man seems polite and not very dangerous, especially if he's just been mugged, so Claire doesn't hesitate to draw closer and gesture to the envelope. "It should be on the front desk, though no one knows who puts them there."

"I'm alright, no worries-" He feels his pocket. "My wallet, and my keys, though I suppose I'll live- I doubt they even know which car is mine." He gives her a tight smile. "This is definitely a welcome change of scenery, however strange." He frowns at her words, turning and picking up the envelope with his name on it. "- spooky," he mentions, opening it carefully and finding his key.

"Sorry. At least they won't be able to do anything with it here." Though she supposes auto theft is a possibility, even without far on the island to go. Stupid Sylar. Leaning on the counter, she asks, "Who did it, if you don't mind me asking? Did they run off?"

"Where is here?" He pockets the envelope, nodding his head at her question. "Some hooligans- I didn't see much off them. They took what they could get and ran off. And then I woke up outside, on the steps. I don't even remember passing out."

She laughs a little-- every time anyone's asked her that, she's had no idea how to answer. "No one's sure. Everyone wanders in the way you just did, minus the mugging in most cases. It's just a hotel on an island in the middle of nowhere." Claire shrugs. "This probably isn't what you want to hear."

"...well. I suppose there are worse places to be stranded than a nice hotel." He can think of plenty. "Still, what an odd thing to happen." He pauses, before looking up at her.

"Forgive my manners. I haven't introduced myself." He makes sure his hand is clean and then holds it out to her. "My name is Adam."

"It doesn't make any sense," she agrees. "But it could be worse. Could be a lot better, too, but we're working on that." She spares a thought for the psychopaths she's run into so far and swallows a grimace, turning it into a bright smile as she shakes Adam's hand. "Claire Butler. It's nice to meet you."

"A pleasure to meet you, Miss Butler." He gives her his most charming smile in return. "How long have you been here?" he asks. Perhaps this is not a hallucination after all; he did not think delusions normally had such a distinct sense of feeling.

"Not that long," Claire replies, then realizes she's miscalculated. "Uh, wait. Actually, it's been about six months now. Wow." That's a long time away from home; why did it feel so much shorter than that?

"That's a fair amount of time, yes." Though less for him than it might be fore others. "And still no idea as to why we are here? Hmm, strange." Maybe it was an elaborate containment facility of some sort. A nice one, if so, but maybe that was just so they did not get well organized and fight against a common enemy.

Ah, the quickening passage of time. A side effect of her power Claire remains blissfully unaware of. "No. No idea. All we know is that people come from all different places and times-- different universes, even. Nobody I've talked to has any idea what or who brought us here."
