Nick Naylor stands in the lobby, looking at a large poster that's hanging up. It advertises a New Year's party, specifying only a few things. Where - The ballroom; When - New Year's Eve (of course!); What - Formal-Dress Masquerade. It doesn't say who's hosting, though, or what time it starts. Nick assumes it's just one of those ... Hotel things that happens. People will show up when they want too, he guesses.
