Life is surprisingly... great. When was the last time that his life was great? It's hard to remember, through Tritter and divorces and just generally being House's friend/punching bag, but he can really, finally, officially say that things are great. He's dating a girl he loves, and she loves him, and even if she has some House tendencies -- so what, right? Amber is nothing like House in all the important ways, and she's finally helping him to... well, to get some balls. He doesn't have to be House's punching bag anymore.

He puts his key into the door to his and Amber's apartment and steps inside, shutting the door behind him. He turns around, calling out for Amber, and stops halfway through her name.

The worst part of all is that he can smell the hotel-ness oozing out from the walls and the floors and the lobby furniture, and some small part of him wants to cry. There was a vow he made about hotels and smelling that smell again. He never thought he'd break it this soon.

Somehow, someway, he blames House.

Typist: Another Dr. James Wilson! Reset from before everything goes to shit at the end of season four.
