New Arrival

Aug 10, 2007 21:49

Elektra had taken care of everything she needed. Abby was safe and it was time for her to move on and where did she decide to go? Back to New York. She sat on the plane and fidgeted she hadn't been back in awhile. When the plane landed everything seemed normal. She rented a car and booked a nice hotel and drove off towards it, though when she came ( Read more... )

Luka is out taking his son for a walk and can't help but overhear the woman's comments, as she starts to walk towards the elevators he approaches her.

"Excuse me, I couldn't help but overhear you." He smiles and shifts his son to his left side so he can free his right hand.

"I'm Dr. Luka Kovac, this is my son, Joe." He pronounces the "c" at the end of their name as if it were a "ch, then offers his hand as he introduces himself and the infant he's holding.

"It really isn't that bad here, and ou do get used to things after a while, if that helps any, ."

(hehe..couldn't resist...)

"It's our pleasure." He returned the smile as he released her hand.

"It really isn't so bad here once you get used to the fact that you're in a place that you have no idea how you got to and that you can't leave." He offered a slight shrug before looking at his son who seemed content to watch Elektra.

"I will offer you once warning because the first time it happens it's a little disconcerting." Luka paused for a moment before continuing.

"You may find yourself meeting people you know who come from your past and possibly even your future as strange as that seems."

"Oh I think the only one from my past that could throw me out of sorts is Matt. Though you did catch me a bit off guard. You look like a guy I met. I saved his and his daughter's life."

"Really, is he Croatian as well? I know that some people think that there's a similarity in appearance of Dalmatians." "He shifted his son to the opposite shoulder as the child began to crawl higher.

"Do you mind my asking who Matt is?"

"I really didn't ask much about him. Long story." She paused a moment when he asked about Matt thinking. "Someone special to me."

"I'm sorry, I don't usually make a habit of prying into other people's business, you'll have to forgive me." He paused to allow her a few moments with her thoughts.

"I know how difficult it can be in the first few days here, especially when you've left someone behind." His thoughts couldn't help but drift to Abby.

"We experienced that first-hand. Didn't we, Joe." He directed the question to Joe even though he knew the small boy couldn't yet answer.

"You left someone behind?" She smiled and shook her head. "Matt as far as he knows I'm dead."

"My wife, Joe's mother." Luka nodded before he began to speak.

"No one seems to know exactly how things work here, whether those you leave behind know you are gone, or if time seems to stand still for them." He drew his lower lip in between his teeth as he formed his thoughts.

"Maybe you'll be lucky and your Matt will arrive here and find out the truth about you." He gave her a slight smile he hoped might reassure her.

"Oh I've been dead too long for him to know any different. I died in his arms."

"Ah, but, you see that's the mystery of this place, e might very well arrive before that moment even happened." He couldn't resist smiling as he realized how strange his words might sound to her.

"I met two people I knew from my past here, one was a woman who I knew was dead, yet in her memory and the memory of the other person she was still alive." He shook his head and shifted Joe to his shoulder before slowly beginning to pat the boy's back so he could ease him toward sleep.

"Anything seems possible here."

She blinked then and shook her head. "Wow guess that could factor in. Odd to think."

"Yeah, it is, but, then again even being here is that in itself isn't it?" His smile broadened with the question.

"I think I've kept you long enough, I should let you get settled and I should get Joe back to the room so I can put him to bed. If you would like to talk again feel free to stop by." As he realized that Joe was indeed asleep he stopped rubbing the boy's back and simply held him.

"It's been a pleasure talking to you."

"I'll keep that in mind Luka, thank you." She gave a smile then. "He is cute by the way."

"You're welcome," Luka was ready to walk away as she offered Joe the compliment.

"Thank you, I'm a little biased but, I think so too. You have a good night, I'm sure we'll see you around." Giving her a final smile he turned and started toward the elevators, his sleeping son in his arms.
