The bar was quickly becoming one of Justin's favorite places, as much as anything in the place could be a favorite when he had never had any intention of being there; it wasn't even the alcohol he was there for (though it did help to calm his nerves a little, which were still shot from the unexpected turn of events topped off on what had already ( Read more... )

Giselle comes down from her room for breakfast and notices him sitting, yet again, at the bar. Deciding she's not that hungry she takes a seat next to him.
"I didn't think you'd been here long enough t'be drowning yer sorrow, luv. Wha's wrong?"

Justin curses under his breath as he messes up yet another napkin drawing, then tosses it aside with the rest.

"How does anyone get used to just ending up here?"

"Dunno. Some of us had a worse life before, and we got some friends here. Others don't really notice."

"How can they not notice?" He takes another sip of his drink. "I guess it wouldn't be so bad if there wasn't a certain person here. His being here makes it hard."

Very, very hard.

"His name's Brian Kinney. He's-- he was my partner." He takes another drink, and a much larger sip than the one before it before speaking again.

"We almost got married."

Completely taken aback, Giselle changes the subject.
"What've y'been drawing?"

"Nothing in particular." He gestures to the pile of napkin rejects - a mixture of quick sketches of the bar around them, his attempts to draw his friends faces from Liberty Avenue from memory, and his doodles of Brian as the super hero Rage that he and Michael created together. "You can look if you want, but they're not very good. Napkins don't exactly make great canvas."

Giselle doesn't know much about art, but she can see that this man has talenţ even with crumpled napkins instead of paper.
"I like this one," she says, picking up a drawing of a good-looking boy. "Is it Brian?"

Justin shakes his head. "No, that's Hunter, the son of a couple friends from back home.." He picks up another napkin, this one with a sketch of Michael and Ben. "These are his parents..." he picks up a third napkin with a more detailed sketch of an older and even better looking man.

"This is Brian."

Giselle notes how pretty Brian is but doesn't say anything since Justin in clearly attatched to him.
"These're very nice, you're really good! If you need something other than napkins, you could ask 'round, I'm sure there's more artists here; they migh' be able ta tell you where t'find supplies. Y'might wanna check yer closet, too. I hear there's lotsa interestin' things people've found there. This morning I discovered some lovely clothes..." She's wearing a bright yellow dress again, cleaner than the one she arrived in, but a bit hard on the eyes.
