Claude is listening to Sheila. Or, at least, he thinks he is. She's speaking, he hears the words, he responds - but whether or not he's really listening is questionable. He watches her move around, rallying the troops as only she can, falling to her knees and slapping the ground. Stepping up beside her, Claude falls, too. Watching Sheila, he ( Read more... )

She was just out, trying to gauge the direction of Baghdad, and was laying a carpet to pray when the new man arrived.

Scherehazade blinks, gasps, and straightens up. Her voice is quiet, a bit soothing, heavily accented, if singing.

Definitely still trippin'.

"Uh. Thanks." He's going to have to talk to Berger when this is done.

She inclines her head. "You are welcome," she replies, very politely. "You were looking for Sheela, were you not?" She inclines her head, examines him. Something about the way he is dressed suggests that perhaps, indeed, he is looking for that Sheila.

"Yeah. Or Berger. Or Dionne. Hell, even Woof." If she has any idea who those people are. "Seen 'em around?"

"I have only seen Sheela," she says with a smile that is earnestly contrite. "But perhaps I should warn you, she was crying for a friend, when I saw her..."

concerned look crosses his face.

"Crying? Did she say why?" It worries him that Sheila might be upset and he isn't there to comfort her.

"She was grieving," Scherehazade tells him gently, "but I cannot remember if she told me her friend's name." A pause, and she adds, "I am very sorry, if you are in mourning as well."

... applause. That was epic typo of epic.

Claude just shakes his head. He can't think of anyone Sheila would be grieving for. Maybe a family member?

"Thanks for the heads up."

She looks down, nods. "You are welcome, though forgive me for being the bearer of ill tidings," she replies, still very polite, every composed.

"Hey, no, it's cool. I'm ... Sure it's nobody I know, anyway." He hopes.

Ah ha ha, sweet irony, how we love you.

"No, I -- well, I would not know, but I wish it on you all the same."
