Gabe had just been talking to his father, forcing him to come to terms with Gabe's existence. That he wasn't going to go away, no matter how much therapy they had or how many times Dan wished him away.
He went to put a hand on his father's shoulder, or wrap his arms around him, when Dan is suddenly gone. Their house is gone, replaced by what looks like a hotel lobby or something.
"... hello?" he calls out, tentatively at first, then louder. "Hello, is anyone here?" Gabe runs from one end of the room to the other, trying to figure out where he is. "Dad? Mom? Please someone answer me!"
After a few desperate minutes of searching, Gabe drops to his knees on the floor, flinging his arms over his head and letting out a shaky, breathless sob. "Please -- can anybody hear me? Can anybody see me?"
