There is a John Cohen hanging around the main room. In his case, 'hanging around' means sitting with a cup of coffee and a copy of Preston and Child's Relic. He looks almost relaxed for once, stretched out on a couch and sipping his coffee every so often. Feel free to bother him, he might even be nice.

Here's an Olive walking past, a Starburst curled up in her arms. She sees Mr Cohen and stops, not sure if she should say anything to her pseudo-grandfather.

Typist: PS I love that book.

Honestly? Probably even John can't manage to be not nice to Olive. So he sets his book down and gives her a slight smile. "Hi there. It's Olive, right?"

Typist: Soooo do I. :D

She nods shyly. "You're... you're Mark's dad-- aren't you?"

Typist: Have you read Reliquary or Cabinet of Curiosities?

"Yeah, I am. I'm John." He pauses to take a sip of coffee. "What's your cat's name?"

Typist: Yep! I've read all of them. :) Because Preston and Child are ridiculously shiny.

She nods, committing this to memory. "Hello, Mr. John." And she holds up Starburst, beaming. "This is Starburst!"

"Nice to meet you, Starburst." He reaches to scritch the kitten's head, grinning a bit. "It's a very nice cat."

^____________^ "She's beautiful. Markdad and Rogerdad gave her to me." She was trying very hard to call him 'Mark' around his dad, but it's difficult, especially when her guard is down, due to her cat.

The 'Markdad' gets a wider grin out of him -- because it really is cute, and he's glad this kid has someone to take care of her. "She is pretty beautiful, yeah."

Olive looks down at her kitten, stroking her tenderly. "She was the tiniest one in the litter, and nobody wanted her, not even her mom." The 'just like me' is unspoken, but very there. She looks up at Mr. John. "But I wanted her, and I love her."
